A Wooly Mammoth was like an elephant with a shaggy, wooly coat. Some of them had tusks that were turned down to digging in the snow. Did you know that some prehistoric people used Mammoth tusks as tent poles and to make walls for their huts? Also, they are still finding Mammoths that have been frozen and in ice for thousands of years. Would you like to try one of those steaks? I don’t think I would, personally.

…That the largest flying reptile was called a Quetzalcoatlus? Each wing measured 20 FEET (6 meters) across. It was roughly the size of a small aircraft. How would you like to see one of THOSE flying over your house?
Did you also know that reptiles were the first creatures to fly? That’s what they say…And some of the first birds had teeth too!!!

…that note being my LAST trivial information entry about the plant-eating dinosaurs being bigger than the meat-eating dinosaurs, did you know that there was a duck-billed dinosaur whose footprint was almost THREE times bigger than an elephant’s footprint? That would be one BIG footprint, if you ask me!!!

…The meat-eating dinosaurs or the plant-eating dinosaurs?……
Care to take a guess?
Give up, yet?
The plant-eating dinosaurs were bigger than the meat-eaters. The biggest land animals ever were among the plant-eating dinosaurs, like the Argentinosaurus. It was ten times heavier than the biggest meat-eating dinosaur, which was the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Who would have thought?

That when a meat-eating dinosaur broke a tooth, a new one would grow back? And it didn’t matter HOW many times a tooth broke, a new one would grow back in it’s place. That would be something that would come in handy, don’t you think?
Will try to do another entry…or two….before long!!! Thanks for the notes!!!

Did you know that they say the biggest dinosaur eggs ever laid belonged to the Hypselosaurus? It’s eggs were about 30 centimeters (12 INCHES) long and could hold up to 3 liters (6 PINTS) of liquid!! That is one BIG egg!! I wonder what size babies came out of an egg that size?

….That it seems like more and more movies are getting “extras” on them? This is something that REALLY preturbs me!!! I go to watch a movie, even on a VHS tape, and find that it’s NOT exactly what it’s supposed to be. We came across a couple of kid’s movies like this recently. One we got from the library, and it was SUPPOSED to be a Thomas the train movie, and I put it in the DVD player….and we get about 4 different shows that are only like 10 minutes long…but it’s DEFINITELY NOT Thomas. Tell me WHY they do this. I was NOT happy, because I did NOT approve of some of the things that were on there. And then another one that we got was a VHS tape, and it was Thomas alright, except it had some WEIRD guy in between the Thomas stories. Was NOT real happy. If it’s supposed to be Thomas on the tape/CD, people, MAKE it Thomas…and leave off all the idiodicy. SOME of us are COMPLETELY happy when it’s just plain Thomas!!!

Did you know seaweed needs sunlight to grow? That technically makes it a regular plant, even though it doesn’t have roots. Long strands of seaweed float in the water in the forests of seaweed that grow in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the United States. At night sea otters leep on top of the water. Each otter wraps up in seaweed to keep from drifting away.
Some fish disguise themselves as seaweed to hide from enemies. The sea dragon has frilly fringes that make it look like wavy seaweed as it swims along.
Interesting information that you’ll probably never use, huh?
Thanks for all the notes!!!

Did you know that there is a tree that swells like a balloon? The baobab tree sucks up water in it’s trunk when it rains, and swells up to twice it’s normal size. As the tree uses the water, it shrinks back to it’s normal size.
I’m going to have to do some research on THIS one, one of these days, and find out where this kind of tree lives…could be VERY interesting!!!

Did you know that the roots of the stilt palm grow down into the ground, and the push the truck of the tree upwards? It makes the tree look as if it is walking. How weird would that look?
Can you guess how much some types of bamboo grow in ONE day? Some kinds can grow up to THREE feet!!! Talk about having a fast growing plant!!!
