In More Ways Than One

Rain, Rain, Rain!!!

November 9th, 2009

Well, it’s raining….AGAIN!!!  I’m not complaining though, because at least we DID have SEVERAL days of NICE weather, so it pretty well was all but completely dried out from the last rain a couple of weeks ago.  The temperature isn’t bad tonight, either….just right for a walk in the rain, if it wasn’t dark and so late.

We’ve had ALOT going on here the last couple of months!!!  LOTS of changes, and different things happening!!!  We moved into a new house, for one.  It’s on a quiet, country road, with only 4 other houses in the mile stretch that we live on, and none of those are super close, so I am happy!!!  LOTS to be done, even though we’ve been working on it for a couple of months now.  Frankly, I figure we will have ALOT to do for another 11 or 12 months or so…then it will hopefully taper off to just maintenance on what we’ve already accomplished!!  It has been SOOOOO nice to actually have things to do, both inside AND outside!!!  So, whether I am inside the house, or outside enjoying the weather, I can ALWAYS find something to fill my time with (as if my schedule wasn’t full enough!!).  What can I say?  I LOVE the property!!!  And I’d like to say “thank you” to the person/people that made this place possible!!!  Words cannot express my gratitude at this point.

Okay, I think I’ve run out of rambling, so we will close for now….maybe see about going to bed for awhile?  Blessings to you and yours!!!

Hmmmmm…

October 15th, 2009

Well, well….it seems that I remember what I was going to write about on my other site just after I logged out.  Oh well, such is life, I guess.  Gives me a topic to write about over the weekend or early next week, I guess!!!

Fall has come to our part of Kansas a bit earlier than normal.  I am having a difficult time believing that we’ve had the heat on for almost a week now!!!  It seems like we have been needing heat closer to November the last few years.  Oh well, we need a wet, cool, damp Fall and Winter, and a wet, warm Spring!!!  It is rough on farmers, though, because of all of the rain, as they haven’t all gotten their corn, soybeans, and milo harvested yet.  Maybe they can get some of it in this next week?

Got some bread in the oven.  Yeah, I know it’s a bit late to be doing things like baking, but it seemed like the thing to do at the time, and we needed bread.

You will NEVER guess what I saw coming home from picking my son up from school yesterday.  Take a guess and leave a note with your guess in it, and I’ll try to remember to answer this “quiz” in my next personal entry.  It was DEFINITELY something that I didn’t think I would ever see in Kansas!!!

Read up to Ezekiel 30 so far today, as well as reading Psalm 15 and Psalm 91.  Just a FEW more chapters and I will only have fairly short books of the Bible left to read before the New Testament!!!

Well, enough babbling in here for now, so take care and God Bless!!!

September Ramblings

September 26th, 2009

The days seem to be flying by as fast as the weather seems to be cooling off.  Seems like there is NEVER enough hours in the day to get everything done.  And, yes, it seems like, in certain areas of life, everything I touch takes me three times as long as it should.

Fall seems to have arrived earlier than normal this year.  Saw a small flock of geese flying South in a “V” formation this morning.  It’s only about a month earlier than normal.  There’s quite a few people that are convinced that we are going to have a long, hard Winter.  I, on the other hand, are not QUITE so sure.  I think this Fall and Winter COULD very possibly  be like this last Spring was…..wet and cool.  I guess we will see, won’t we?

Haven’t been to church much the last 3 or 4 months.  Between feeling like I’m burning both ends of the candle and running from one end of the country to the other, we just haven’t hit that “go-to-church-more” groove this Fall.  I HAVE been getting in some Bible reading here and there, though.  Not as regularly as I would like, but some is better than none, I think.

Well, about time for bed, me thinks, so we can get up tomorrow and do it all over again, so I will sign off for now.  You all take care, and claim those blessings from God that are rightfully yours!!!
Blessings in ABUNDANCE!!!

Ramblings

June 23rd, 2009

Hey, LOOK!!!!  I’m back again!!!  Can you believe that?  And it’s not even going to have a link in it, either!!!  HOW do ya’ll rate?….*L*

LOTS going on right now.  Have been trying to stay on top of everything.  It’s been…challenging, to say the least…especially the last few days!!!

We got MRI results back on my knee, which I twisted over two weeks ago and went to the doctor about.  According to the nurse that called me yesterday, I didn’t tear anything…it’s just a sprain….*dry look*  I’m not too convinced, for a couple of reasons.  #1:  It’s not getting much better.  After two weeks, you’d think there would be a marked improvement of SOME sort, and there’s not.  #2:  I have wondered before if the local radiologist at our hospital got their degree from a cracker jack box.  Anyway, I guess we’ll see what the next couple of weeks bring, and go from there.  I guess it’s a good thing I haven’t been looking for a job, or have a job outside the home at this point, because my knee probably wouldn’t allow me to work anyway.

I have had two gifts given to me this week that I have never had given to me before.  One of them was a Bible from the church across the street for joining the church.  It was from the ladies of the church.  One of those nice ones with the family tree and marriage records in the front of it….The only thing I find wrong with it is that it is a King James Version, and I don’t generally speak Elizabethan English….*L*  But, I WILL use it, nonetheless.

The other gift was a bottle of perfume….name brand perfume.  Talk about a pleasant surprise!!!  I asked the person who gave it to me how much it cost.  Their comment was “Does it matter?”  I told them that it DID matter, because I was the type that, when I am given something I MIGHT like, I’d like to know how expensive it is, so I will know whether I can afford it or not.  They didn’t tell me the price on it, even with my logic….*LOL*  Of course, one bottle of perfume SHOULD last quite a while, even if I wear some every day, so I guess we’ll cross the bridge of getting more when we get there.  Kind of flattered me to be given perfume…..what’s that saying?  “Flattery will get you everywhere”?  Well, I can’t say it will get you EVERYWHERE with me…..but it IS a nice thought!!!  THANK YOU to the person who gave me the perfume!!!

Well, enough rambling for now, me thinks….have to get out of this chair for a bit and relieve my knee some.  You all take care and have a blessed day!!

Have You…?

March 6th, 2009

….ever had someone tell you you were “awesome”?  Maybe this person was more like a passing acquaintance that you saw a couple of times a year?  And THEN, you find out that this passing acquaintance has told someone relatively new to your neighborhood that you are “awesome”, and they even bring them by to introduce you and prove their point?

What makes a person “awesome” to someone else?  ESPECIALLY when you may not know each other very well?  How do you respond to that?  Personally, I’m not sure HOW I would respond?  What about you?

Have You Ever Thought About…?

December 18th, 2008

….What you would do if you could do a certain decision in your life over?  I think most all of us have, at SOME point.  Would you do things the same?  Or would you change that decision you made and hope for a better outcome?  I think it’s hard to say, really, because you DON’T know that the outcome would have been better if you had chosen NOT to do this instead of doing it.  But, who really knows?

Whoever said “Hindsight is 20/20″ was TOTALLY right, in my opinion!!!  Sometimes, after the fact, it’s easy to see that you SHOULD have done this, or gone this way, instead of what you ended up doing.  But, then again, us stubborn humans have a tendency to look at only today, and we forget to look at the possible consequences of our decisions, until it’s too late.

There’s your “Food For Thought” for the day, me thinks!!!

God Bless!!

Something To Think On

August 9th, 2008

A church in this area recently got a new Pastor after being without one for almost a year.  I HAVE to admit, this new Pastor (who’s not really an official Pastor yet….more on that later…) has brought some GREAT ideas with him that he is slowly incorporating.  One of those ideas is adding an insert (or two) to the bulletin on Sunday mornings.  On one of these inserts here a couple of weeks ago, there was a little paragraph about one of the things that the church is supposed to do.  It said something about bringing encouragement and faith to those who are feeling down and lost because of “the cares of this world”.  Too many times, that little act of caring gets lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life.  And I HAVE to admit that, as a member of ANY church, it is one of the things that some people need the MOST!!!

Think about it for a minute….do the people of YOUR church do that?  Do they offer endless encouragement when things get rought?  Are they available, no matter how dark the days get?  Is there that certain someone who ALWAYS has the warm smile and encouraging word and the warm hug JUST when you need them?  I don’t think a church can TRULY serve and worship God WITHOUT those qualities!!!

Maybe I’ll write more about what this new Pastor is doing another time, but for tonight, I guess that’s your “Food For Thought”, so you can put that thought on simmer and mull it over for awhile.

Sooooo….

April 18th, 2008

…after my shower, I got dressed and got back on here.  I paid a couple of bills on-line and got a couple more ready to go in the mail.  I deleted some e-mail.  I finished up what paid entries I can, and I’ve even played with my side bar a bit on here.  Had some more books to add to our “already read” list!!!  That’s getting to be quite an impressive list, even if I DO say so myself!!!  And we are only in April.  Can you tell we like books around here?

Now, to decide what to do now is going to be the interesting part. I should/could read some Bible…or I could read out of a couple of other books that I’ve got started and see about finishing them up….or I could get out some new books I JUST got.  They are part of this “new door” I was telling you about a few days ago.  And man, do they have some GOOD writing in them from the looks of things…and VERY good pictures!!!  They will be GOOD additions to our “schooling” library, I think!!!  VERY valuable, for more than one reason!!!!

More babbling later, maybe….

It’s 1A.M And….

April 18th, 2008

…all is well in the town square.  Wait a minute…we don’t have a square.  Hmmmmmm….did ALL towns used to have a square, just so they wake everyone up in the middle of the night yelling that?  How annoying would THAT be?  I guess it would depend upon if you were asleep like most people, and WHO was doing the yelling.  I know people who I don’t want close enough for me to hear ANYTHING they say at ANY time of day or night….let alone YELLING!!!

I think it’s time to go TRY to lay down again for awhile.  I don’t know if I’ll succeed or not, but I’m going to try.  Morning comes too early around here some days….ESPECIALLY with visitation coming up!!!

Rambling

March 8th, 2008

Have I rambled around rambling lately?  I don’t think I have.  You know, I’ve gotten quite good at rambling about….absolutely nothing.  I never knew that rambling about nothing was such a task, but I have recently found out that not just anyone can do it successfully, and even fewer people can do it more than once.  And here I do it ALOT….*L*  I must be pretty talented, don’t you think?….*silly grins*
