Struggling To Find Ourselves

My husband travels for his work, and I have to stay at home alone many nights. At first I was a little nervous about it since I have never lived by myself. When we got married, I went from living in my parents’ house to living in my husband’s house. Last year about a week before Christmas, my husband was gone on another business trip for a few days. I had just gone to bed, but decided to watch television for a while to finish watching my favorite show, Revenge. The show is pretty intense so I usually record it and watch it during the day so I won’t dream about it. But after it was over, I turned off the light and went to sleep. I think it was a couple hours later that I heard a strange noise. I woke up and the next thing I knew our alarm from security ADT went off. I have never been so afraid in my whole life. Of course, the phone rang immediately, and the security company said they were sending the police. Whoever it was breaking into our house ran away when they heard the alarm. I am so thankful that we had installed the security system because no telling where I would be now if we had not.

While channel surfing TVByDirect I have noticed a new trend sweeping across the nation. As we all know, our economy has been in the gutter for so long now, people from every walk of life are learning to think outside the box. Channel after channel has stories of smart folks thrift shopping and hitting consignment boutiques to find everything from fashion to home décor. I was so inspired by some of the finds people were discovering on TV, I have started shopping consignments in my very own community. A couple of examples, I have purchased three formal dresses for my teenage daughter for a fraction of the retail cost. Just recently, I came across two very large Venetian art pieces that retail for $270 for only $30. These are just a couple of the great steals I made. The best part, I am supporting my local businesses and helping my community stay strong. I’ve met lots of great local business owners and I feel more connected to my community. What a great trend that anyone can participate in and benefit from.

Ever since we got Direct Star TV, I have been hooked on Lifetime movies. I could watch them all day long. I can’t figure out why I like them so much. I started watching them after a friend told me that there was a Lifetime movie based on one of my favorite books. The movie followed the book pretty closely and I really enjoyed it, so I decided to start watching more Lifetime movies. The actors on these movies are not very good, and the storylines are almost never realistic. Maybe that is why I like the movies: because they let me zone out from reality. One day I was home sick from work and I decided to stay in bed and watch Lifetime movies all day. They played movies from the nineties that were pretty bad, but the recent movies were much better. I couldn’t even stop watching the movies that I thought were bad. I guess they’re like train wrecks: I just couldn’t look away. My husband makes fun of me for watching these movies, but he would never admit to the fact that he got sucked into one movie I was watching the other day.

I was VERY pleased to find this recently, as Christmas is coming up and I’ve been looking for Christmas presents for my two nieces.  SOOOOO, where did I start?  I started with Girls Clothing.
