Struggling To Find Ourselves

Struggling To Find Ourselves
In More Ways Than One

Sunday Scribblings #86

November 27th, 2007

A few days late, but here it is.

A mis-spent youth reminds me of a story that I had started writing a few years ago.  I believe it was right at the start that a boy threw a rock at a cafe’s window and shattered it, and the hero of the story (if you could call her that) jumped out the window and took off in a running pursuit of the boy, with cops following her.  One of the cops got trigger happy just about the time our hero was about to catch the boy, and shot the kid in the back, thus killing him.  Of course, our hero of the story wasn’t too happy, and made it VERY apparent to the police officer.

I would have to agree that that would have been a mis-spent youth, don’t you?  I’ll have to try to find that story one of these days.  I THINK it’s still on one of our older computers that’s sitting here in the livingroom.  I MIGHT just have to fire that computer up one of these days and see just what’s still on there!!!

Thanks to the folks of Sunday Scribblings for another GREAT thought provoker!!!

Tagged…Ugggghhhh!!!

November 27th, 2007

My Sister over at her diary tagged me for this one, though I have NO idea why…so here goes…..

Here are the rules:

Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.

Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself.

Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.

Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

7 Random And/Or Weird Facts About Me: (most of these will probably be more random than weird)

1: My son is #1 priority in my life

2: I homeschool my 1 dear son

3: I love horses and being outside

4: I DESPISE styrofoam!!!!

5: I love reading books, though I don’t find good ones very often that hold my interest.

6: My Dad lives with my son and I

7: I am a single Mother

I don’t think I know 7 people by name well enough to tag anyone, except my Sister, of course, so I’m not tagging anyone officially.  If you read this and would like to do it, leave me a note saying you’re doing it, so I can go read your answers, please!!!

Procrastination…

October 28th, 2007

…is one of the worst habits to break if you ask me.

I’m supposed to list 10 things I do when I am procrastinating:

1 - Play with my son
2 - Get on the computer
3 - Just generally avoid doing whatever it is that I’m procrastinating about
4 - Go to town
5 - Spend time outside
6 - See #3
7 - Read a book to my son
8 - Watch a movie with my son
9 - See #’s 3 & 6
10 - Go To Bed (but only if it’s close to bedtime!!)

I procrastinate with the best of them, I think, sometimes, but I really don’t have that much that I do to avoid doing whatever I’m supposed to be doing…other than doing anything BUT what I’m supposed to be doing.

Thanks to creativewritingprompts again for this entry!!!

Sunday Scribblings #82

October 27th, 2007

When I think of hospitals, I think about spending the majority of a couple of days in the waiting room of the ICU unit with my then Mother-In-Law when her Mom went into the hospital unexpectedly a few years ago.  As it turns out, things happened, and we didn’t get to bring her Mom home for Christmas like we were hoping, but I have to say that I was glad to be there for my friend because she REALLY needed someone who had “been there, done that” before.

I also think of when we took Dad to the hospital to have back surgery and my 3 year old son and I waited in the waiting room ALL day!!!  My son was playing “cowboys and Indians” with ANYBODY who walked up and down the hall by shooting at them with his finger.  You’d be surprised at how many people shot back….*LOL*

Marriage Proposal

October 25th, 2007

At www.creativewritingprompts.com, one of their last prompts asks you to list 7 reasons for turning down a marriage proposal.  *L*…As a single Mom who is divorced and having problems because of that divorce, I would HAVE to say that ALL 7 of MY reasons would be the same…..”because I’m NOT interested!!!”…What can I say?  I’m NOT interested at this point in time!!!

Give 8 Good Reasons Why….

October 19th, 2007

….it’s okay for men to lie….

Honestly, I can’t come up with ONE good reason for a man to lie.  I can come up with at least a couple why it’s NOT good for them to lie….I don’t think there is anything worth a man lying to you.  If they can’t tell you the truth, then there’s something wrong, in my opinion.  I’ve known a few couples that have been married for 40 and 50+ years.  One of the things that I have been told by most of them is that they don’t have any secrets from their spouse…even if one of them has cheated on the other at some point, it’s NOT a secret.  That partner that cheated was open and upfront and they dealt with it TOGETHER!!!  Honestly in ALL things is very important, in my opinion.

Sunday Scribbles

October 18th, 2007

Okay, so it’s NOT Sunday, but I needed something to post and ran across this website, and they happen to have their newest post up for this week….so here goes…

My first act as Queen of the world will be….

Hmmmmm….Queen of the world, huh?  That’s a thought!!!  I’m not sure I’d WANT to be Queen, but if I HAD to be, I suppose I would take a stroll around my castle.  (Queen’s live in castles, don’t they?)  And then maybe take my son and go for a horseback ride on our property.  Spend the warm, Summer day with my son, my horse, and a picnic lunch, maybe.  And I would delegate the responsibility of “politics” off on someone else….*L*

Thanks to those folks that put together the Sunday Scribbles site!!!  And forgive me for NOT posting it on Sunday!!!

Trying Something New…Maybe…

October 8th, 2007

Okay, so I’m feeling kind of brain-dead tonight when it comes to doing some fill in entries between my paid ones.  And, though I probably won’t do it tonight, one of these days when I’m feeling like this, I will PROBABLY try something new….like journal prompts.  And yes, I’ve created a new category JUST for them.  Maybe they can help me create some interesting fill in entries when I feel brain-dead?….*hopeful look*
