Mother’s Day - 2011

May 7th, 2011

The week before Mother’s Day and Mother’s Day is a day that has been met with mixed emotions for alot of years now.  2011 is no different, and has, in some ways, been more of an emotional roller coaster than it normally is.  It is a yearly reminder of a very traumatic time in our lives….and a very large, unexpected loss.  Tomorrow will be number 16 on one hand.  And then on another hand, it will be the second Mother’s Day without a VERY close friend.  As much as I would like to forget these anniversaries, even after 16 of them on one hand, I find that it is hitting me pretty hard, in some ways.  They say time heals all wounds, and maybe it does, but it still doesn’t take away the memories, or the feeling of sadness that I feel, or the feeling of aloneness that I have been feeling lately whenever I think about the coming of Mother’s Day.  As much as I hate to say it, I will be GLAD when tomorrow is over, and I can forget the significance of Mother’s Day in my life again.

Have a GREATLY blessed Mother’s Day!

Our New Additions!

March 21st, 2011

I go out tonight after my dear husband leaves for work and am greeted by all of our goats, new including our four new ones…..minus one…the pregnant one. So I go in the pen after I milk the first goat to investigate and I am greeted in the lean-to by two new additions!

Our New Unnamed Additions!

Our New Unnamed Additions!

On a sadder note, we received word that an acquaintance passed away tonight…just about the time I took that picture, give or take a bit. His wife passed away in January, I believe, and we were REALLY praying that he could get back on his feet after her death. I can’t really blame him, I suppose….after being married for 65+ years to the SAME person….I’d probably die of a broken heart, let alone any health problems I had because I was 95+! Rest in peace, Richard and Hazel! You will be missed!

Have a GREAT week, all!

Trying To Finish….

April 5th, 2010

….some projects….some thoughts….

This is basically going to be a list of things that we have finished in the last couple of months….sort of a pick-me-up-type entry to show what we HAVE accomplished in amongst ALL of the things that are going on right now that seem UNfinished.

1 - I finished reading The Courage To _____in February!!!
2 - We finished the “3rd” run that is actually now the 2nd run, except for a better gate, yesterday!!!
3 - We finished our cross-fence for our back pasture the day before yesterday!!!
4 - I finished the book of John in March!!!
5 - I will finally get a letter in the mail to a friend tomorrow that I have been neglecting to mail!!!
6 - I finish NUMEROUS jobs every week to increase my paychecks!!!!
7 - I FINALLY got my second blog approved a couple of weeks ago!!!

It’s funny, sometimes, how the number of things that are UNfinished seem to outweigh the number of things that ARE finished!!  Sometimes it’s just good to step back and take a look at what has been accomplished, so those accomplishments don’t get lost throughout the days and unfinished projects!!

God Bless!!

Gotta Run!!

February 23rd, 2010

Well, here I am, but not for long.  I have some running to do again today….but at least I’m getting paid for most of it!!

Gotta see about stopping long enough to talk to some people this week in town too!!!

Have a Blessed Day, all!!!

Ahhhh, What LOVELY Weather!!!

February 21st, 2010

Well, maybe only for some.  It’s icy and cold and wet outside at the moment.  I am sitting here wondering if the big tree outside the window is going to finally have some of it’s branches break off tonight with the ice and the wind.  It would be kind of good if it did!!!  It is one of MANY things on this list to take care of this Spring.

I haven’t really done much so far today.  Run a load of laundry earlier, as well as dishes first thing this morning….downloaded some job information for this week….checked my on-line sources to see if I could make any extra money today…..cleaned the bathroom, to include mopping….swept the backdoor entryway and the kitchen….Not much really, so far.  Have to go to town here in about 4 hours, and then come home and get my boy and myself ready for tomorrow.

What have YOU done today?
God Bless!!!

Some More Winter

February 20th, 2010

Ahhhh, yes, this “peculiar” Winter here in Kansas lingers on, MUCH to some people’s dismay!!  Today has been dismal, cool, and wet, and tomorrow is probably not going to be much better.  We actually have a Winter Storm Warning out from 6P.M. tonight until 6 A.M. on Monday morning.

This weather has made it kind of difficult to do some of the things that we’ve been wanting to do the last few weeks.  You know….all of those Springtime activities like cleaning barns and stalls and chicken houses, and planting trees and flowers and such, and rerouting our “water flow” for when we have run-off after a rain and such, redoing our driveway.  I have animals that need worked with, and more on the way, if I want them.

But, looking on the bright side of this dismal, Wintry weather, we have been able to make plans and such for the basement and what we would like to do with it, and some plans for the chicken house and a couple of the runs out front here, so that has been good.  We have had time to do some price checking and such, with the help of the internet, so that has been a good thing.

Oh well, off to find something else to do, so have a BLESSED weekend, and we’ll try to drop  by again real soon!!!

The Day Before….

January 10th, 2010

…my Mother’s birthday, and they are supposed to be taking a friend of mine off of life support about this afternoon.  It has been a long Summer for her, and her husband, as she has been in the hospital for a MOST of the last half of 2009.  Now she has an infection in her blood system that they haven’t been able to get under control yet, her blood pressure is low, her heart rate this morning is dangerously high and she needs the ventilator to help her get enough oxygen to survive…and here I sit at home.  We AREN’T stopping our prayers for a miracle just yet, but in the natural, it doesn’t look all that promising.  There seems to be a small possibility that her body will continue to function after they take her off life support, but the chances, in the natural realm, are EXTREMELY small.

More later….maybe….Blessings in 2010!!

Rain, Rain, Rain!!!

November 9th, 2009

Well, it’s raining….AGAIN!!!  I’m not complaining though, because at least we DID have SEVERAL days of NICE weather, so it pretty well was all but completely dried out from the last rain a couple of weeks ago.  The temperature isn’t bad tonight, either….just right for a walk in the rain, if it wasn’t dark and so late.

We’ve had ALOT going on here the last couple of months!!!  LOTS of changes, and different things happening!!!  We moved into a new house, for one.  It’s on a quiet, country road, with only 4 other houses in the mile stretch that we live on, and none of those are super close, so I am happy!!!  LOTS to be done, even though we’ve been working on it for a couple of months now.  Frankly, I figure we will have ALOT to do for another 11 or 12 months or so…then it will hopefully taper off to just maintenance on what we’ve already accomplished!!  It has been SOOOOO nice to actually have things to do, both inside AND outside!!!  So, whether I am inside the house, or outside enjoying the weather, I can ALWAYS find something to fill my time with (as if my schedule wasn’t full enough!!).  What can I say?  I LOVE the property!!!  And I’d like to say “thank you” to the person/people that made this place possible!!!  Words cannot express my gratitude at this point.

Okay, I think I’ve run out of rambling, so we will close for now….maybe see about going to bed for awhile?  Blessings to you and yours!!!

Hmmmmm…

October 15th, 2009

Well, well….it seems that I remember what I was going to write about on my other site just after I logged out.  Oh well, such is life, I guess.  Gives me a topic to write about over the weekend or early next week, I guess!!!

Fall has come to our part of Kansas a bit earlier than normal.  I am having a difficult time believing that we’ve had the heat on for almost a week now!!!  It seems like we have been needing heat closer to November the last few years.  Oh well, we need a wet, cool, damp Fall and Winter, and a wet, warm Spring!!!  It is rough on farmers, though, because of all of the rain, as they haven’t all gotten their corn, soybeans, and milo harvested yet.  Maybe they can get some of it in this next week?

Got some bread in the oven.  Yeah, I know it’s a bit late to be doing things like baking, but it seemed like the thing to do at the time, and we needed bread.

You will NEVER guess what I saw coming home from picking my son up from school yesterday.  Take a guess and leave a note with your guess in it, and I’ll try to remember to answer this “quiz” in my next personal entry.  It was DEFINITELY something that I didn’t think I would ever see in Kansas!!!

Read up to Ezekiel 30 so far today, as well as reading Psalm 15 and Psalm 91.  Just a FEW more chapters and I will only have fairly short books of the Bible left to read before the New Testament!!!

Well, enough babbling in here for now, so take care and God Bless!!!

September Ramblings

September 26th, 2009

The days seem to be flying by as fast as the weather seems to be cooling off.  Seems like there is NEVER enough hours in the day to get everything done.  And, yes, it seems like, in certain areas of life, everything I touch takes me three times as long as it should.

Fall seems to have arrived earlier than normal this year.  Saw a small flock of geese flying South in a “V” formation this morning.  It’s only about a month earlier than normal.  There’s quite a few people that are convinced that we are going to have a long, hard Winter.  I, on the other hand, are not QUITE so sure.  I think this Fall and Winter COULD very possibly  be like this last Spring was…..wet and cool.  I guess we will see, won’t we?

Haven’t been to church much the last 3 or 4 months.  Between feeling like I’m burning both ends of the candle and running from one end of the country to the other, we just haven’t hit that “go-to-church-more” groove this Fall.  I HAVE been getting in some Bible reading here and there, though.  Not as regularly as I would like, but some is better than none, I think.

Well, about time for bed, me thinks, so we can get up tomorrow and do it all over again, so I will sign off for now.  You all take care, and claim those blessings from God that are rightfully yours!!!
Blessings in ABUNDANCE!!!
