Struggling To Find Ourselves

Three or four years ago, I took up MAKING my son’s birthday cake.  It was a TOTALLY new experience for me, but it has been saving us $30 or more every year since then.  And, it has saved us the hassle of having to get the cake ordered a certain number of days in advance and having to go pick it up and such.  Not to mention that the lady that was making our cakes is not doing it anymore.

I’ve done probably 6 or 8 birthday cakes, but I can’t say I have ever done a wedding cake or used wedding cake toppers. I can’t really say that, unless they were REALLY unconcerned about how “professional” it looked that I would really WANT to do a wedding cake.  I COULD, but I’ve still got a LONG way to go to make mine look like it was done by a “professional”.

But, this IS something that I COULD turn into another sideline income, if I so desired, even if it was only an occassional income.  I seem to have the trickle effect going here, don’t I?

Hmmmm….dinner…..interesting prompt this week, though I have missed several.

I guess one of the things that bothers me about eating at other people’s houses sometimes is the fact that sometimes, people aren’t exactly….shall we say….conscious of how UNsanitary they are when they cook.  I don’t care if you DO have wrinkle creams that work…I’d prefer you not apply your cream while you are cooking dinner…..or at least a dinner that visitors are going to eat.

Dinner is sometimes a challenge at our house!!!  Figuring out WHAT to fix is the problem….and having energy and the supplies to actually get it fixed!!  But that, along with the decluttering, is something we are working on, along with a couple of other things!!

It’s rough sometimes, setting up a new house!!!  But we ARE getting it!!!  We are ACTUALLY starting to function as a TEAM, which makes life a WHOLE lot easier!!!  ONE step at a time, though….One SMALL step, if necessary!!!

Time to make some phone calls and take dinner out of the freezer for tomorrow!!  Have a BLESSED day!!!

I’ve been thinking about advertising ALOT lately, with the developments that we’ve had going on in our lives.

I have to admit that the television commercial that I saw a while back for extenze was a TAD….shall we say…different?

I doubt I will add any advertising for that on my sidebar…but I could name SEVERAL other things that I wouldn’t mind have small ads for on my sidebar.  Who knows?  Maybe I’ll add advertising as ANOTHER sideline?

I have to say that yesterday afternoon did WONDERS for my mood!!!  I really didn’t do much, except spend some QUALITY time with my partner and my son…..and a couple of four-legged animals!!  I HAVE to admit that there is a saying that goes something to the effect of:  “The best thing for the inside of a man is the outside of a horse” is VERY true!!!!  One of the BEST things for natural treatment for depression that I have found is riding and being around horses!!!  It’s like there is a whole NEW day and things don’t seem to look so dark when there’s horses around and you can actually do something with them!!!

It seems like you hear about a better this or a better that every time you turn on the radio, television or even the internet.  The medical world is finding and MAKING so many different medications of ALL kinds right now, including acne medication that they don’t even let the products get tested fully, in my opinion.  They don’t know what the long term effects or side effects are.  It is too bad that the world can’t see that they are moving too fast in some areas and slow themselves down and smell the roses!!!

….EVERYONE is promoting themselves with promotional tote bags. I hate to say it, but tote bags at the grocery store is an OLD story for us. We lived in California better than 15 years ago, and stores there were already doing the tote bag thing AND giving us a credit of like $1 for every tote bag we brought with us to reuse.  The stores here in Kansas are just NOW hitting on the tote bag idea, and I have yet to see more than ONE store offer a credit off of your total when you use the tote bags.  What can we say?  Some parts of the country are just a LITTLE behind other parts.  Such is life, I suppose!!!

We still have plans for some of our decorating unfolding, but we decided shortly after we moved in that we would like a rustic look.  So, we’ve been looking at natural/neutral paints and stains…we’ve been looking at buying or building rustic furniture….and such.  We have an idea for redoing our hardwood floors, which we will be testing in another couple of months.  We are thinking of staining instead of painting part of the walls in our home.  All in all, we’ve got ALOT of ideas, but we aren’t hurrying to get any of it done, as we want to have thought the possibilities through so we can say that we like what we did the FIRST time!!

With changes happening in our lives at a rapid pace these days, and trying to take a different direction than my family tree has ever know before, there are LOTS of new possibilities presenting themselves to us.  One of these is increased travel, which might just require us to look into a couple of luggage sets, or at least a couple of more duffle bags.  A luggage set would be nice, in a way, but duffle bags are SOOOOO much more versatile, in my opinion.

Well, if plans go even close to as planned, it won’t be long before I will need to sell merchant account specials!!!  A bit of money from this and a bit from that is looking like it’s going to be quite profitable!!  It is a different way of thinking than what I am used to.  It is taking some getting used to and some practice to think along the lines of having 3 zero’s on my bank account, but I can’t WAIT to put it into practice and actually see it happening!!!

It’s never too late to change a family tree!!!

….some projects….some thoughts….

This is basically going to be a list of things that we have finished in the last couple of months….sort of a pick-me-up-type entry to show what we HAVE accomplished in amongst ALL of the things that are going on right now that seem UNfinished.

1 - I finished reading The Courage To _____in February!!!
2 - We finished the “3rd” run that is actually now the 2nd run, except for a better gate, yesterday!!!
3 - We finished our cross-fence for our back pasture the day before yesterday!!!
4 - I finished the book of John in March!!!
5 - I will finally get a letter in the mail to a friend tomorrow that I have been neglecting to mail!!!
6 - I finish NUMEROUS jobs every week to increase my paychecks!!!!
7 - I FINALLY got my second blog approved a couple of weeks ago!!!

It’s funny, sometimes, how the number of things that are UNfinished seem to outweigh the number of things that ARE finished!!  Sometimes it’s just good to step back and take a look at what has been accomplished, so those accomplishments don’t get lost throughout the days and unfinished projects!!
