Home Schooling

December 25th, 2009

I HAVE to say that the internet has made it a WHOLE lot easier for SOME of us home schoolers to find and sell textbooks.  Most of the time, we can find tremendous discounts on gentle used books that we would have had to pay full retail price from the publisher for, if we didn’t have so many useful resource sites on the internet.  I can’t say how much this has helped US in our home schooling venture, even if it IS only on a “part-time” basis!!!

God Bless and Merry Christmas!!!

Have You Noticed…?

December 25th, 2009

…that, at certain stores, the person running the box cutter gets a TAD carried away and cuts into the bags of sugar, or flour, or cooking oil containers?  Isn’t it just amazing that, in this day and age of “education” and “equality” on the job, that people can be so careless in the course of their job?  It’s KIND of aggravating when they slice open the loaves of bread too!!!  I have discovered, AFTER I got home, that the bread I picked up at the store (which shall remain nameless) had been sliced on the bottom or the end of the loaf with a box knife.  And we ALL know, I think, that store-bought bread does NOT stay fresh in a bag with a slice in it.  Okay, enough ranting on THAT subject for now.

Merry Christmas and God Bless!!!

Health Insurance

December 25th, 2009

It seems to be a HOT topic, no matter where you go or who you are talking to.  And, I have to admit that, in our lives, it has been a topic this last several months too, as I have had an “incident” or two that have required x-rays and such.  One of the plans we may look at down the road is something like Blue Advantage, but there are MANY others that are options out there for us to look at as well.  Soooooo many options and sooooooo little time to check them out!!!  I guess it’s a GOOD thing that we have a financial advisor, isn’t it?

Merry Christmas in this BLESSED time of year!!!

Christmas Already?

December 25th, 2009

Yep, it looks like it’s Christmas already.  After Christmas is New Year’s, and then we start looking towards the end of January and for tax forms in the mail and responding to some wedding invitations that we have received in the mail in the last week or so.  It seems that a friend of mine has a nephew getting married, and this friend has been asked to be a part of the wedding party.  How COOL is that?

Merry Christmas and God Bless!!!

Getting Older?

December 21st, 2009

As I get another year older every year, I seem to “hear” different things on commercials, on the television shows I watch, when I’m out and about in a “crowd”.  I think that it’s kind of funny the way your ears “listen” to conversations around you.  When you are a child, your ears listen for kids or for conversations about kids and what they like or don’t like.  When you hit your teen years, your ears seem to pick up only conversations, commercials, and music about cars and dating and such.  By the time you hit your 20’s, your ears tune in to the conversations and commercials about new cars and new music and college parties.  When you get into your 30’s, you start wondering what it’s like to be “Middle Aged”, and every once in a while, you might have a thought about wrinkle cream cross your mind. By the time you hit your 40’s….well, I’m not there just yet, so I’m not sure what you 40+’ers think about.

Have a VERY Merry and Blessed Christmas!!!

Job Search

December 21st, 2009

Some of us haven’t been to successful in our job search.  Though, I’m SURE that it doesn’t help that we are not in a metropolitan area.  Decent paying jobs are, of course, VERY scarce in a rural area.  Out here where we live, you either have a good paying job with the local “Good Paying” job, or you have a mediocre, dead-end job with virtually no chance of advancement or better pay.

Blessings and GOOD LUCK, if YOU are searching for a job!!!
