Struggling To Find Ourselves

Struggling To Find Ourselves
In More Ways Than One

Christmas Is Coming!!

October 28th, 2009

And, with the move being this close to Christmas, my thoughts have occassionally been dwelling on the possibilities of inexpensive gifts for the FEW people we are going to buy for.  I am thinking seriously about getting some work gloves  for a couple of different people.  I KNOW Dad likes them and they are IMPOSSIBLE to find here in Kansas.  I guess they figure us Kansans don’t work out in the wet, cold, nasty weather enough to NEED  good gloves?  Okay, maybe not ALL of us are imports like I am, but I think they would sell ALOT if they found a few stores out here in America’s heartland to sell their gloves!!!

Retraining

October 28th, 2009

Since I have moved…and my son and I are living with someone other than my Dad, I have had to retrain myself AND our new “housemate” to allow me to use my barcode scanner on everything we buy, so I can earn my points.  I have to admit that, sometimes, it seems like a pain in the royal rear end to scan EVERYTHING, but the points DO add up, and we DO get things that make it worthwhile!!!  One of my scanners lets me redeem the points onto a debit card, which has put gas in my vehicle and bought groceries more than once in the last 3 years or so since I’ve gotten it!!!  They may not add up fast, but there always seems to be $10 or $20 that is redeemable to my card when I need it!!  Thank God for His little ways of provision!!!

How Cool!!!

October 18th, 2009

We used to have a neighbor that lived behind us when we lived in Aliceville who LOVED to work with metal.  He really didn’t seem to care what kind of metal he was working with….just that it was metal.  He had told his wife that he would not build a house for them, unless it had a metal frame.  And that’s exactly what he did!!!  It is a NICE house, too!!!  And then, he put up a metal garage/shop.  THAT is nice, too!!!!  He LOVED metal buildings!!!  How COOL is that?

Hmmmmm…

October 15th, 2009

Well, well….it seems that I remember what I was going to write about on my other site just after I logged out.  Oh well, such is life, I guess.  Gives me a topic to write about over the weekend or early next week, I guess!!!

Fall has come to our part of Kansas a bit earlier than normal.  I am having a difficult time believing that we’ve had the heat on for almost a week now!!!  It seems like we have been needing heat closer to November the last few years.  Oh well, we need a wet, cool, damp Fall and Winter, and a wet, warm Spring!!!  It is rough on farmers, though, because of all of the rain, as they haven’t all gotten their corn, soybeans, and milo harvested yet.  Maybe they can get some of it in this next week?

Got some bread in the oven.  Yeah, I know it’s a bit late to be doing things like baking, but it seemed like the thing to do at the time, and we needed bread.

You will NEVER guess what I saw coming home from picking my son up from school yesterday.  Take a guess and leave a note with your guess in it, and I’ll try to remember to answer this “quiz” in my next personal entry.  It was DEFINITELY something that I didn’t think I would ever see in Kansas!!!

Read up to Ezekiel 30 so far today, as well as reading Psalm 15 and Psalm 91.  Just a FEW more chapters and I will only have fairly short books of the Bible left to read before the New Testament!!!

Well, enough babbling in here for now, so take care and God Bless!!!

BUGS!!!!

October 11th, 2009

If there is ONE thing I DON’T like in my house (or anywhere else that I’m staying), it’s BUGS!!!  There are a few of the “see-ables” that I just TOTALLY despise, but some of the ones that bother me the MOST is the “non-see-ables”, or, as the rest of the world calls them “no-see-ums”.

If you travel and stay in hotels and motels and such, maybe you have run into some of those “no-see-ums” that I’m talking about…..BED BUGS!!!  NASTY little creatures they are, and VERY difficult to live with.  Did you know you can stay in a motel, and bring them home with you?…AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!  But, there IS a product out there that can at least HELP cut down the chance of bringing them home when you travel.  They are called BugZips, and they are an interesting product that I was able to evaluate.

bedbugencasement

If you put your suitcase or travel bag into one of these plastic encasements, and zip it up, there is less chance of getting bed bugs that will be going home with you.

The only BIG problem I found with them is that they have a plastic zipper that you HAVE to use two hands on, especially when you are zipping it up around the corners.  Other than that, I think these little items would be good for a couple of things too.

I haven’t tested the idea, but it looks to me like they would also be a good thing to put your clothes and such in to help protect them from liquids being spilled on them.

They would also be perfect, in MY opinion, to put your “emergency kit” into in the trunk of your car to keep it dry-ish and protected from dust and such.

And that is probably just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the possibilities for these nifty little products, as they come in VARIOUS sizes that include a small dufflebag size, a garment bag size, and several “suitcase” sizes!!!

So, the next time you are wondering what to put your clothes in for a bed bug encasement, why not take a look at these?

One Of The BEST….

October 1st, 2009

….additions to ANY website is PROBABLY putting up a “live chat” option!!!  I actually use that option ALOT on certain websites, and I am GLAD that, when I have a problem, I can click that little button and have almost instant access to help!!!  I think EVERY website that sells something should have one, if at all possible.  And other websites could DEFINITELY make use of it as well.  If you have a website, or work on someone else’s website, think about adding the option of live chat!!  It MIGHT be the BEST thing that you’ve added in awhile!!!

Lawyers

October 1st, 2009

Did you know there are lawyers that cover just about ANY “specialty” imagineable?  There are lawyers who take only disability cases, only family-type cases, only criminal cases.  There are New York accident lawyers, San Diego trial lawyers, Orlando family lawyers….and the list goes on.  All you have to do to find one in your area that takes your type of case is go to the yellow pages of your phone book, or go on-line and do a search.  Chances are, you’ll come up with more names than you realized was possible.
