Struggling To Find Ourselves

It seems like medical insurance of ALL kinds is on EVERYONE’S minds these days.  With the rising cost of healthcare and the rising cost of prescriptions, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to take care of yourself properly sometimes.  It doesn’t matter if you have medical insurance through your workplace, medical insurance that you pay for through a private company that you selected or even travel medical insurance, one has to wonder sometimes if it’s worth paying the premiums. And then, something major comes along, and you are reminded of just how valuable medical insurance is.  Of course, some of those who don’t have medical insurance just kind of get a “we’ll-deal-with-it-IF-it-happens” attitude that actually works quite well!!!

…Busy week, and it’s NOT getting any better for the rest of it.  Nothing TOO major going on…just ALOT of running around.  And I even had to squeeze an appointment with my Doctor in yesterday too.  Have a sinus infection, again….

Here’s hoping we have a quiet weekend at home with NICE weather, so I can catch up on some of the stuff here at home!!!

….I just have gotten to the point where I have decided that, if it’s NOT useful or if it’s in the way, I don’t want it as a gift and I don’t want to GIVE it as a gift.  Over the last few years, I have to say that I have really been putting alot of thought into the gifts I buy people….Are they useful?  Are they going to be in the way?  Are they going to end up being more trouble than what they are worth?

That’s kind of like area rugs, in my opinion. Some of them are nice, but, I mean, if you want a rug in a room, why not just carpet the entire room rather than putting an area rug down and having to move it when you want to clean the floor underneath it and such?  Makes NO sense to me, but to each his own, I suppose.

….ever had someone tell you you were “awesome”?  Maybe this person was more like a passing acquaintance that you saw a couple of times a year?  And THEN, you find out that this passing acquaintance has told someone relatively new to your neighborhood that you are “awesome”, and they even bring them by to introduce you and prove their point?

What makes a person “awesome” to someone else?  ESPECIALLY when you may not know each other very well?  How do you respond to that?  Personally, I’m not sure HOW I would respond?  What about you?

…there is ALOT of talk…INCREASING amounts of talk…about obesity and the rise of it, even among infants.  Now, I realize that there has ALWAYS been talk about it among adults and that was the cause of the invention of numerous different types of weigh loss products, such as drinks, “candy” bars, even a weight loss pill or two, as well as NUMEROUS other items.  MY concern is that the weight gain is NOT just among the adults any more….it’s among the CHILDREN of our population as well.  And I, for one, blame a BIG part of the weight gain among the children of our society on the advancement of technology.  Without video games and computers and 24-hour television shows and iPods and such, our children wouldn’t be stuck on the couch, like the trend seems to say today.  Stop and think about it….when was the last time you went for a walk with your child?

Yep, it looks like Spring has FINALLY arrived, at least for the most part!!!  We have had a couple of REALLY beautiful days, especially today!!!  I was even able to turn off the heaters yesterday morning, and they haven’t been on since then!!  That will help our heating bill DRASTICALLY, even if we need to run them only during the night!!!

The grass has been growing rapidly in the last couple of days!!!  The neighbors across the street have a set of daffodils open!!!  My lilies are starting to break out from underneath the Winter’s collection of dirt and leaves and bark that has collected in the flower beds.  All of the birds are starting to come out and be seen more, and are singing in the trees that surround my house all day long!!!

Thank GOD for the miracle of Spring!!!

Her safety had never really occurred to her….until now.  As she stood, clinging to the vertical rock that she was climbing, she realized that, in the haste of her mood, she had forgone the regular safety equipment of mountain climbing and was now in a VERY precarious position.  She was now about 500 feet above the ground with NOWHERE to go except up, and that did not look to be any easier than going back down without losing her handholds and falling.  She realized now, as she clung to the rock in front of her and felt the perspiration soaking through her cotton shirt, that she really SHOULD pay more attention to her own safety, rather than just going with the emotion of the moment and doing things without thinking.
