Sports!!!!

February 10th, 2009

Sports seems to be a hot topic for ALOT of people around here.  Of course, here in Kansas, we have Jayhawk fans and Wildcat fans, and, of course, we HAVE to razz the fans of the other team whenever the other team loses.

I used to be VERY much into watching sports!!!  I used to watch the NFL games every weekend, as well as horse racing and other equestian events.  I have even been given a few sports gifts a few years ago.  I have a football collector’s plate with Joe Montana on it that was given to me before he even retired.  I have a couple of other items too.  They aren’t worth much, except sentimentally.  I would LOVE to get back into watching sports again, now that my son is getting up to where he can enjoy them too!!!

I Updated…

February 10th, 2009

I updated our reading page with the books that we read in the last part of January the other day.  I don’t think we’ve done too bad, considering it’s only the middle of February!!!  I have to admit that I have kind of enjoyed being able to read so much the last few months!!!  We have read some REALLY good books, and some that aren’t quite as good.  And we have SOOOOOOO many more that we plan on reading in the next few months!!!!

Have You Ever Wondered….?

February 10th, 2009

Have you ever wondered what it would be like without electricity?  I know that at least most of us have, at some time in our lives, been without power for an hour or two, or maybe even a day or two, but what would it be like to be without it indefinitely?  There was an ice storm over East of us that was, apparently, pretty bad here a couple of weeks ago.  Pastor wanted to remember the storm victims in our prayers this week, because, from what has been heard around here, some of those people over to the East are going to be without power until some time in March.  I guess it wouldn’t do any good if you had some discount indoor lights, unless of course they were solar powered!!!

I Think….

February 10th, 2009

…that maybe I’m not doing too bad on my Bible reading, so far this year.  I finished reading II Kings to my son last night when he was going to bed.  I haven’t been reading every day with everything going on, but I haven’t been doing too bad, I don’t think, and I’m trying to get more regular again with my reading.

I also think that maybe, JUST maybe, the Pastor for the church across the street from us has been reading the current chapter of my life.  He has been doing sermons on getting Satan to flee from you, and waiting on God when it seems like you’ve already waited too long and are tired.  Interesting, ain’t it?

Some Are Lucky….

February 10th, 2009

…Some aren’t.  She realized this as she road the fence on the North perimeter of her property.  Some are lucky, or THINK they are lucky, to have a regular job and have a work holding, but other’s, like her, didn’t have a “regular” job, and didn’t have that luxury.  She had always thought a “regular” job was kind of over rated, anyway.  Who needs the stress of having co-workers on a regular basis, and the commuting back and forth every day and having to do the same thing, day after day?  She kind of liked being able to have an adventure every day on her “job”.  There were ALWAYS things that needed to be done, and they were ALWAYS different from what she was doing the day before.

Busy, Busy!!!

February 10th, 2009

Yep, that would DEFINITELY describe our house lately!!!  It seems like, since the holidays, we have been running around like chickens with our heads chopped off!!!  Our calendar hasn’t really been that full, like it was a few months ago, but it’s the little things that come up unexpectedly that have been keeping us busy.  And, frankly, it doesn’t look like “the little things” are going to slow down much any time soon.  Oh well, at least we don’t have 10 appointments every week like we did here awhile back!!!
