Ahhhh, the world of toys seems to be overwhelmed with remote controlled everything….from rc controlled dinosaurs to rc helicopters and everything in between!!! Today’s children seem to want EVERYTHING to have a remote control. And, honestly, remote controlled things aren’t ALWAYS bad. We’ve been given some VERY durable ones over the years!!!
Unfortuneately, the mini helicopter that I was just received won’t end up being one of those to be around for years. It had such GREAT potential and I was REALLY looking forward to my son playing with it, IF it was durable enough and appropriate for his age group and such.

My FIRST problem with it was that it was very hard to control. The box says for ages 8+, but I, as an adult was having a difficult time controlling it. Children of ANY age would only be having MORE difficulty than I was. And the directions on the box were VERY difficult for me to understand.
Along with that problem, I found that, after less than 5 minutes of trying to figure out how to control it, I had already broken a propeller on it. The propellers are NOT durable enough, in my opinion, for the wear and tear that children are going to put the helicopter through.
The cover on the little cubby hole for the charging cord is NOT one that is easily closed. As an adult, I was having trouble with getting the cord out of the way in the proper place so that the cover would close properly. There is really little hope, in MY mind of even an 8-year-old being able to do it successfully, without tearing up the cord.
On the good side of things, I was impressed with how fast it charged and I hooked it up to the remote controller to charge AND that the controller has a light on it to tell you when the helicopter is fully charged!!! I also liked that the controller was large enough to actually hang on to!!!
All in all, as much as I was looking forward to posting a GOOD entry about this, I am afraid that I was NOT very impressed, overall. And, if I had the option to go buy one, whether for my own son or for anyone else, I’m afraid that I wouldn’t spend the money.
