Yep, the public school that my son goes to started last Thursday. He seems to be enjoying it, though we aren’t real used to the earlier mornings yet.
Looks like rain today. We can use a little bit, though, because it’s been a week or more since we got a GOOD rain last.
Not much going on here today. I’m getting some computer work done, as well as some miscellaneous cleaning around the house, and maybe even a bit of reading or something for a bit. Already took a walk, though it was shorter this morning because of the threat of rain. Might just take another one later, though.
More later….

There were many advertisements on the menu, one of which was for getting your car insurance online. When the waitress came back with her drink, she ordered her meal, and sat there, sipping her iced tea, listening to the truckers at the island talking. They were currently talking about some bad weather out to the West, which was where she was headed. “I-70 goin’ across Colorado is closed over the pass”, one trucker commented. “I just came from that direction, and they closed it about 30 minutes after I came across.” “The Pass?”, she repeated the words in her mind. What could that mean? Hmmmm….sounds like the direction she ought to go, just to see what all the hubbub is about.

When she stopped for gas the third time is when her adventure really started to get exciting. It was getting close to dark, and she hadn’t had much to eat since she’d left home more than 650 miles ago. So, after she filled her gas tank, she pulled into the parking lot and went into the truck stop to look around and get something to eat.
The convenience store was nothing much to be excited about. It had your regular candy and sodas, knick-knacks and videos, and more useless items lining it’s wall-to-wall shelves. She saw a display case with some watches in it. She had to go look, so she walked over there. As she gazed at the watches in the case, she realized that they were far more durable than the Festina watches that she was used too. So, she found one that she liked, and bought it. Then she took it to the restaurant and sat down at a table. The waitress came to find out what she wanted to drink and to give her a menu. She put her new watch on while she waited for the waitress to bring her her drink.

A church in this area recently got a new Pastor after being without one for almost a year. I HAVE to admit, this new Pastor (who’s not really an official Pastor yet….more on that later…) has brought some GREAT ideas with him that he is slowly incorporating. One of those ideas is adding an insert (or two) to the bulletin on Sunday mornings. On one of these inserts here a couple of weeks ago, there was a little paragraph about one of the things that the church is supposed to do. It said something about bringing encouragement and faith to those who are feeling down and lost because of “the cares of this world”. Too many times, that little act of caring gets lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life. And I HAVE to admit that, as a member of ANY church, it is one of the things that some people need the MOST!!!
Think about it for a minute….do the people of YOUR church do that? Do they offer endless encouragement when things get rought? Are they available, no matter how dark the days get? Is there that certain someone who ALWAYS has the warm smile and encouraging word and the warm hug JUST when you need them? I don’t think a church can TRULY serve and worship God WITHOUT those qualities!!!
Maybe I’ll write more about what this new Pastor is doing another time, but for tonight, I guess that’s your “Food For Thought”, so you can put that thought on simmer and mull it over for awhile.

She started keeping track of what the billboards advertised in her head. She found that, within the first 500 miles or so, she had seen billboards advertising Johnston and Murphy, Attorneys At Law. She had also seen Johnston and Murphy luggage, as well as a hospital by the same name. Then she got to wondering if people ever came up with anything truly ORIGINAL these days, or whether everybody always used something someone else had already thought of.

Can anyone name the title of that song and the name of the artist who sang it?
Anyway, I’d like to send out a great big

to those of you who have left me messages in the last couple of weeks!!! It’s always nice to see notes!!! I WILL try to get around to your individual websites in the next couple of weeks, but won’t guarantee anything.

As her hometown faded behind her, she turned the radio on and found a Country Music Station that played Oldies.
The hours passed, as did the miles. They were marked only by the mile markers on the interstate and the occassional fill-up of the gas tank.
She got to thinking that she had never dreamed that there were so many billboards in the World. She had seen billboards advertising everything from hotels to diet pills, from weight-loss surgery to the next hospital, from internet service to the next fast-food joint. She had decided by the time she filled up for the second time, some 500 miles from her hometown, that there was a billboard to advertise EVERYTHING.

Yep, it almost looks as if our Fall weather is going to turn out to be like our Spring weather….WET!!! It started raining early this morning before daylight, and it rained MOST of the day. As of about dark, we had right about 3 inches in our rain gauge, and another flash flood watch had been posted for tonight. Nothing like changing plans for the weekend real quick!!!
I saw some Canadian geese on the way home from a nearby town this last week. They couldn’t decide which way they wanted to fly. Is Winter coming early? I guess that means I need to start thinking about what clothing we are going to need for snowy weather, huh?
More later….

Yep, that’s what she was calling it…at least today. Tomorrow, it might be a nightmare or something like that, but today, it was an adventure.
She was young and fresh out of school. She had lived in New York City all of her life. She hadn’t even been outside of New York state on vacation. But, despite her lack of travelling adventure in her childhood, she had promised herself to make up for it now. So she called mover NYC, which was a moving company to see what it was going to cost to move her stuff out West. The cost was manageable, but it would be about 3 months before they could get it done. So she rented a storage shed, and put her stuff in storage, after she went through it to get the clothes and stuff that she would need between now and then. Then, she said goodbye to her friends, her family, and her hometown, and set out on a great adventure, travelling West. She wasn’t sure where she was going, but she was sure it was going to be the adventure of a lifetime when it came to ending up where God wanted her to be.
