A Big Adventure - Part #10

August 28th, 2008

Most people dreamed of Orlando vacations, but she dreamed of something else.  Orlando vacations had been a fairly regular thing when she was growing up.  If her family hadn’t been able to go, some of her friends ALWAYS went and brought back a ton of pictures for her, as well as souvenirs and such.  Orlando was….normal…to her.  Now, she was headed for some place that was different….headed for some place she had never been….headed for some place where nobody knew her.  THIS is what dreams are REALLY made of!!!

Life…

August 28th, 2008

Life has been pretty busy around here since school started, as you can probably imagine.  But I think we are getting settled down into a nice routine for the school year, that will work GREAT for us!!!

I have SOOOOOO many things on my list of things that need done that I’ve been having a hard time deciding where to start.  But I HAVE been able to get a few of the things done, here and there, in between appointments and such.

Started rearranging a little bit yesterday.  Nothing too major, just trying to give the house a little bit different feel.  I will probably work on it some more here shortly, as well as get the washing machine going again.

More later….Maybe.

A Big Adventure - Part #9

August 28th, 2008

Down the road about 200 miles, she pulled into a truck stop to get something to eat and some fuel and to stretch her legs.  As she was walking to the building to pay for her gas, she saw a man carrying a heavy airbrush come out of the building and head towards the mechanic’s shop at the side of the building and across the parking lot about 200 feet.

Well, Well….

I’m here again, but not quite as soon as I was hoping.  But, at least, I’m here!!!

Things are going okay here.

School started a couple of weeks ago for my boy.  He is enjoying it, though I get the distinct impression that there are days when he is bored with the schoolwork itself.  He LOVES P.E., and Music, and recess, though….and he has been eating ALL of his lunches, at least part of the days, according to him.

More later, maybe….

A Big Adventure - Part #8

August 28th, 2008

As she headed back out onto the highway behind a semi-truck, the first billboard she saw was for Chicago personal injury lawyers.  She thought that it was kind of funny to be in the middle of the nation and see a billboard for something from Chicago.  Why was it here?  The billboard has a website address.  Ahhhhhh, the wonder of technology!!!

Well, Folks…

…I think that’s about it, for now.  Now it’s time to take a break from this computer for a bit.  Maybe go for another walk and get the blood circulating, and then come back and type an item or two or three that has been needing to be typed for a couple of weeks now.  You all take care!!!

A Big Adventure - Part 7

As she sat there at her table after finishing her meal, she saw an advertisement for Missiko in the newspaper on the next table. Now alot of you may not know this, but Misiko is a GREAT website. Her Mother had taught her that much.  So, she got up and got the paper and read:

She laid the newspaper on the table and finished her drink.

Sunday Scribblings #124

August 20th, 2008

Observations is a BROAD category!!!

Have you observed that society, as a whole, has been changing?  No longer do we put an emphasis on education and morals.  Now the emphasis seems to be on socialization and not academics.  I have seen children “graduate” high school, as well as other grades, and they are not able to read or do simple Math in their head or write a sentence correctly.  If you can’t read, you can’t do anything these days.  But, on the other hand, if you CAN read, you can teach yourself to do ANYTHING!!!

Something else I’ve observed over the last few years is that the words “family” and “friend(s)” don’t mean near as much as they used too.

Oh, and I think we’ve ALL observed the price of things going up!!!!  And our rate of pay staying about the same.  How backward is that?

Thanks for the great prompt again, folks!!!

A Big Adventure - Part 6

August 20th, 2008

As she was sitting there, eating her meal and listening to the truckers talking about the “bad one” that was headed in their direction, she saw a couple walk in.  They were a younger couple.  They were carrying Britax car seats. She could only wonder if the babies were twins, which would be about the only logical explanation for having two babies so young.
