Struggling To Find Ourselves

Spring is FINALLY working on getting here!!!!  We’ve been having Spring-like temperatures during the day, and most of the nights, but it is still cool enough during a night, here and there, that we close the windows for awhile.  It has REALLY been nice being able to have the windows open ALL day the last few days!!!  Now if we could only LEAVE the heat off, we’d be doing good!!!

As they sat there talking in the early hours of dawn, the nurse came in and asked how he was doing, etc.  The man got to wondering, when the nurse took blood for blood tests, if this hospital used a clinical laboratory service.  He didn’t know much about them, but he had heard a little.  He had been fascinated, at the time, by the concept!!! 

Schooling is going okay.  We haven’t really done much “bookwork” here at home in the last couple of weeks, but we HAVE done quite a bit of other stuff that would count.  Public school is over this week!!!  This is a GOOD thing!!!  It will give us BOTH a MUCH needed break!!!  Then we have to start looking at buying school supplies and school clothes for next school year, providing my buddy still has to go to public school.  I think I’ll start saving money for that now, ’cause I KNOW it’s going to be expensive to get him supplies and clothes and enrolled in August.

Books are a favorite item in this house!!! We have books of ALL sizes, shapes, colors, and topic.  I have always loved a good book, even though I don’t normally get to read very much.  Dad LOVES the Louis L’Amour books!!!  My son…well, my son LOVES just about any book, also.  And there are days, now that he’s reading halfway well, when the book is even better if HE can read it!!!  Over the Summer, I plan for ALL of us to read ALOT more, especially my son!!!  His teacher says he’s reading “Great!” now, so I want him reading even better by the time school starts again!!!  And, that SHOULDN’T be a problem, thank goodness!!!  Keep watching my sidebar to see which books we go through this Summer!!!

Sorry for the absence, folks.  I haven’t been on-line hardly at all in the last several days.  Seems like things just keep getting in the way whenever I think about it.  But I’m here for a few minutes this morning, before I get geared up and get some stuff around the house done.  I haven’t been home much in the last several days, so the house REALLY needs some attention!!!

Sometimes, the BEST thing you can do for yourself and your family is often one of the hardest things you’ll ever do.  Want to know what that is?  ADMIT that you CAN’T do it alone, and that there IS a problem.  Whether it concerns alcohol rehab, drug rehab, marriage counselling, parenting classes, mental health counselling, or even sometimes, just going to the regular family doctor, sometimes it seems as though taking that step is a “drastic” step.  But sometimes, that is the step we need to take….for us AND our loved ones!!  But sometimes, it’s the BEST thing we can do!!!

Well, folks, I think that’s about it for tonight.  At least I DID get a couple of paid entries done!!!  And I have rambled to you for a bit.  I’ll TRY not to make it so long in between entries this next time, though I can’t guarantee that.  Now, I think it’s time to take care of a couple of things that I need to do before I go to bed, and go play with a new toy I got a couple of weeks ago, and try to figure out how it works, and then I think I’m going to go lay down for awhile, or at least ATTEMPT to.  You all have a good one, and we’ll be in touch.

As he and his son talked quietly, the nurse came in with a magazine in her hands to check on him.  She took his blood pressure, and such, and left the magazine on the chair where the son had been sitting.  At the front cover, there was an advertisement for the “diet pill that works“, along with a headline for “the best German Chocolate Cake ever”. 

…late this year, kind of.  By this time in most years lately, we are running around without coats and jackets MOST of the time.  This year, we still wear a jacket more than we are without it.  By this time in most years lately, we have normally had the heat turned COMPLETELY off for a couple of months.  This year, we are still using our’s off and on, especially at night.  This has been a weird year for weather.  The Winter was weird, weather-wise, too…and Spring is turning out to be as weird as Winter was.  I wonder what Summer will be like?  I guess we’ll find out soon enough, won’t we?

As he sat there looking at his wife, he remembered when their son had sent them money for a laptop computer a couple of years ago.  It took them FOREVER to finally figure out what they wanted, because they didn’t understand how computers worked.  But, now, they LOVED their computer, as it helped them keep in closer contact with their son when he was overseas.  In fact, they loved it so much that they had just upgraded the laptop memory cards in it.
