Middle Of The Night Part 8
April 24th, 2008Another memory that came to her as she sat there and watched her husband lay quietly in the hospital bed and her son stretched out in the chair on the other side of the room was when she had a serious heart-to-heart talk with her son. He had hit a stage where he had become VERY self-conscience of himself and had tried all of the acne solutions available. He had decided he wasn’t going to the Prom with the ONE girl in school that he had an interest in because of not being able to find a solution that worked. She sat him down and told him that people wouldn’t even notice if he didn’t point it out. And, even if they did, it wouldn’t matter….it’s what’s on the INside that matters….NOT what the OUTside looks like. That was a conversation that had actually changed the way he thought about himself. He got more confident….had more self esteem…it had impacted his life greatly. It completely changed the direction his life had been going.
As she thought about that, she got up and got a blanket from near the window, and covered her son up with it as best as she could. Then, for just a moment, she paused and looked at him, and then she bent down and kissed the top of his head, just like she used to do when he was a boy. It was GOOD to have him here!!!
