Struggling To Find Ourselves

…I think it’s about time to call it a night, at least on here.  I need to make a couple of additions to my side bar, and then I think I’m done.  Time to go do something else….maybe work on our “new door” some more before calling it a night completely?  Almost done with another section!!!

Not much planned tomorrow except get my boy to and from school at the appropriate times…and clean a little bit….and go to a nearby city with my Sister to one of her appointments….and to work on our “new door”.

Should even turn out to be a half-way quiet weekend.  My Sister has to work tomorrow night, which is one of her two nights off normally, so we probably won’t see her until AT LEAST Saturday….or maybe not at all.

As she sat back down in her chair, she noticed the magazine that she had been looking at earlier.  She picked it up and opened it.  In the dimly lit room, she could see numerous different types of bridal lingerie. They hadn’t had anything like what she was looking at now when SHE had gotten married.  As she sat there, thumbing through the pages, she wondering what her husband would think of these items.  She wondered what his response would be if she decided to get something like that.  No, it wasn’t for her wedding, but her husband had made her feel like a blushing bride every day of their marriage.  It had felt like they were constantly on a honeymoon….or dating.  They were feelings that she cherished deeply now…..even more deeply than she already did.  Those feelings…the way he had made her feel over the years….made sitting by his side ALL worthwhile…no matter HOW long it took.

Yep, that’s what our weather has been like….Kind of WET!!!  I would have to say that it’s kind of like duck weather!!!  We had just over an inch of rain last night, with some more expected tonight and tomorrow.  And I just mowed the front portion of my yard too.  Guess what?  It doesn’t show it now!!!  With temperatures up in the 70’s for the majority of the week, and the rain on top of that, welllllll, let’s just say that the grass and weeds and everything have decided that it’s time to grow RAPIDLY!!!  It’s only about 2 months later than it has been in the last 7 or 8 years!!!  It’s about time it got this way, weather-wise!!!  Was SOOOOOOO ready to turn off the heat and ditch the winter coats!!!

Another memory that came to her as she sat there and watched her husband lay quietly in the hospital bed and her son stretched out in the chair on the other side of the room was when she had a serious heart-to-heart talk with her son.  He had hit a stage where he had become VERY self-conscience of himself and had tried all of the acne solutions available.  He had decided he wasn’t going to the Prom with the ONE girl in school that he had an interest in because of not being able to find a solution that worked.  She sat him down and told him that people wouldn’t even notice if he didn’t point it out.  And, even if they did, it wouldn’t matter….it’s what’s on the INside that matters….NOT what the OUTside looks like.  That was a conversation that had actually changed the way he thought about himself.  He got more confident….had more self esteem…it had impacted his life greatly.  It completely changed the direction his life had been going.

As she thought about that, she got up and got a blanket from near the window, and covered her son up with it as best as she could.  Then, for just a moment, she paused and looked at him, and then she bent down and kissed the top of his head, just like she used to do when he was a boy.  It was GOOD to have him here!!!

Yep, that’s kind of what this week has been.  I’ve spent ALOT of time here at home, but I’ve been BUSSSSSSYYYYYYY!!!!  The “new door” has DEFINITELY been keeping me busy, and will probably do so for several more months!!!  But WHAT a Christmas present!!!

So far, though, it’s going pretty good!!!!

Other than that, and a couple of trips to nearby towns for various reasons, I haven’t felt the need to fill my time with much else during the day while my boy is at school.  I have to say, it’s actually been nice this week, to be able to do what I’ve been doing.  I haven’t felt pushed, but yet, I’ve gotten ALOT accomplished!!!

As the hours of dawn came closer, she thought about some of the things he had done in the 62 years that they had been married.  There was one time when they had just moved into a new house.  Their son was just a baby at the time.  She had wanted patio furniture SOOOOOOOOO bad, but they had been SOOOOOOO short on money after the move that they couldn’t afford to go buy any. So, what did he do? He spent his Summer playing with their new baby boy, and building her the best set of patio furniture that she could have ever had.

Yep, I’m here again, at least for a couple of minutes!!!  I’m kind of continuing the story line that I had going the last time I was here for my paid entries.  I’m not sure exactly how far I will carry it….until I run out of ways to work my paid entries in gracefully, maybe….or maybe just when I get bored with it.

Not much going on here.  Today was kind of busy, but we got quite a bit accomplished!!!  That sometimes helps the day finish a LITTLE better!!!  Here’s hoping tomorrow can be JUST as productive, even though we have NO appointments….*crosses her fingers*….

After a lengthy reunion with her son, she quietly filled him in on what had happened, and how her husband/his Father was doing.  She was honest with her son….it did NOT look good, at the moment, but they COULDN’T give up hope…not yet.

Occassionally, the nurses would come in and check on him.  There were a couple of times throughout the night when they used a couple of alcohol wipes on him when they drew blood.

…after my shower, I got dressed and got back on here.  I paid a couple of bills on-line and got a couple more ready to go in the mail.  I deleted some e-mail.  I finished up what paid entries I can, and I’ve even played with my side bar a bit on here.  Had some more books to add to our “already read” list!!!  That’s getting to be quite an impressive list, even if I DO say so myself!!!  And we are only in April.  Can you tell we like books around here?

Now, to decide what to do now is going to be the interesting part. I should/could read some Bible…or I could read out of a couple of other books that I’ve got started and see about finishing them up….or I could get out some new books I JUST got.  They are part of this “new door” I was telling you about a few days ago.  And man, do they have some GOOD writing in them from the looks of things…and VERY good pictures!!!  They will be GOOD additions to our “schooling” library, I think!!!  VERY valuable, for more than one reason!!!!

It had been his idea to buy a bus.  She had gone along with the idea because she thought that it would be as much fun as he said it was going to be.  If they had only known that doing that would bring them to this point…..If they had only known that there was a drunk driver out at that hour on the same road they were on….If they had only known….maybe things would be turning out differently.

“Mom?”….a quiet voice spoke to her from the door.

She turned tiredly to see their precious son opening the door wider and coming over to her.  He knelt down beside her chair and wrapped his strong arms around her tightly as she welcomed the warmth of his body.  She felt relief…at least to some extent.  Her son had made it back to the states and was here now.  Now, if only her dear husband would become conscious…even for just a few minutes….
