….long day has come, I think. Dad is in bed, my boy is in bed, my Sister and her girls left awhile ago, and I don’t even have the washing machine or the dishwasher going!!! Though I SHOULD have. But they will wait until tomorrow. I will get them started early, when we go outside to putter around putting our pick-up back together and such. We have quite a bit of stuff to do outside tomorrow, providing it’s warm enough, of course. Will probably do one of those things that we NEED to do, even if it ISN’T warm, but we’ll see. That thing will be saving us some money in the long run. That thing, you ask? It is a round corral out of portable corral panels. It was delivered today!!! It is actually a dream come true for Dad and I BOTH, I think!!! We have wanted one for SOOOOOO long…and now….well, push kind of came to shove, and we had to do something different with Chief, so we explored and weighed our options and decided that was the best route to go!!! And, if you’ve read one of my previous entries from tonight, you can BET that we will be using the round corral to work with Chief and try to get him to where he won’t run off like my other entry states he did.
Well, all, I think it’s time for bed and try to get at least a couple of hours of decent sleep before another busy day starts. You all take care, and *hugs* to those that normally get them.

Have you ever thought about building your own house? What would it be like to have to choose everything from the wallpaper to the carpets, everything from the color of the door hardware to what kind of bathroom sink you want, everything from whether you want a shower or a bathtub, or a combination. Have you ever really thought about how you’d want the floorplan of your kitchen or bathroom? Do you want that island there? Or would you rather have a floorplan that’s more open? What about where your washer and dryer are? Would you rather have a room for JUST the laundry? Or would you rather have a multi-purpose room? It’s easy to get excited about ALL of the ENDLESS possibilities if you really think that it MIGHT be workable in reality!!!

Was that the name of the guy from here in Kansas…Bloody Bill something-or-other? That’s kind of what I feel like at the moment. Why, you ask? Wellllll, we took Chief for a walk yesterday…My Sister, her girls and myself and one of our neighbors decided to go along just for the walk. And everything was okay until this pick-up started to go by us from the other direction. The driver did pretty good at slowing down as he approached, but he didn’t get all the way by us before he mashed on the gas to hurry on his way. Well, of course, Chief didn’t like that. NO horse would have been COMPLETELY calm in that situation because it was a loud pick-up. Sounded like he didn’t have a muffler. Well, Chief jumped, and so did everyone walking with us, and he started to take off down one of the side streets that was right there. Well, I sure didn’t want to fall on the pavement, so I opted for the gravel of the side street. Well, I let go of the rope, but not fast enough…don’t ask me why, but anyway. I got a gravel burn type thing on my left elbow….the gravel tore a chunk of skin loose on my right palm…I have a few minor bruises on the outside of my left leg, from my hip to my knee. No harm done really, and you CAN’T blame Chief if you know ANYTHING about horses. I wasn’t even bleeding profusely, surprisingly. No hole in my jeans or my coat or anything. And Chief, though he took off at a dead run down the side street, didn’t even run half a block. And catching him again was easier than it had been when we were trying to catch him to start with. Anyway, we got him caught again, and by the time we got him back the 3 or 4 blocks back to the pasture, he was calmer than he had been when we started our little walk. Don’t worry, folks, I’ll heal. I have a pretty good nurse that made sure I used peroxide on my wounds today and gave me STRICT instructions to do it again tomorrow, and to get my elbow and my palm bandaged back up again tomorrow. What would I do without you, Sis?….*makes note to buy more bandaides*…
….Oh, and then last night, I was putting the dishwashing soap back in the cupboard where we’ve kept it for almost the last year, and I found a nail sticking out that I didn’t realize was there. I cut my middle finger on my right hand on it. I was on the phone with a neighbor at the time. I don’t think she quite knew how to handle yesterday….*L*…Welcome to my life, BigOK!!! Thanks for being there too!!!
Anyway, that’s the excitement that would have hit the front page of the newspaper of our little town….IF we HAD a newspaper…*L*
More later….

All around us are signs of Spring, including the temperature, finally!!! Our iris’ are starting to green up and grow a little bit. We checked out lily’s this afternoon, and there is one of them popping up through the dirt. No sign of the gladiolus’ yet, but they were later coming up than the rest of them last year. The grass is going to need mowed next week or the week after, at the latest!!! The robins have been out in VAST numbers. Yep, all in all, I would have to say that Spring has FINALLY sprung!!! And the WHOLE neighborhood is thankful!!! There has been a bustle of activity all around the neighborhood the last week or so. The temperatures have even been warm enough that I’ve started walking up the road a mile and the mile back to the house. Up to today, I haven’t done it on a regular basis….but I WILL be changing that to where I am walking at LEAST 3 days a week, and probably more. And, of course, there WILL be some days when I will walk 4 miles instead of 2. And I’ve got a 7 mile route mapped out too, just in case I get REAL energetic, which will probably happen at SOME point. And we are probably going to have what we need to start working more with Chief too by next week, so that will help fill some more of my time and give me more time outside, so I can TRULY enjoy the weather!!! I can’t wait!!!

…since my last entry. I have been meaning to get in here for several days and do an entry or two or three, but things keep getting in the way, or I just lack the enthusiasm to do it. But I’m here….only for a short time tonight, though. Have a busy day tomorrow planned already, so will need to get up and grab a shower before I get Malachi up and such.

….baby can be VERY difficult, especially if it’s your first. The baby shower normally helps with ALOT of things, but one thing that you don’t always get at the baby shower is a choice of baby cribs. I think it is best that the soon-to-be parents go shopping for the crib themselves anyway, because then they can be SURE of the features they want and the color and the sheets to go on it and such. But, just because I don’t recommend actually BUYING the crib for the soon-to-be parents DOESN’T mean you can’t help contribute to it. By all means, I think gift cards are the BEST gift in that situation!!!

Have you ever noticed how much people give themselves a self assessment? Some people are CONSTANTLY giving themselves a self assessment on the way out the door to work, or to church, or to the Little League Game. ALOT of people give themselves an assessment every time they are in front of a mirror. Have you noticed how society today is SOOOOO concerned about whether they will fit in with the crowd on looks and what they do or how they act? It used to be that people took you for who you were….how well you took care of your livestock and family….how hard you worked…how friendly you were….or how willing you were to help when help was needed. Oh, if it were only like that again!!! Life was better, in my opinion, when people didn’t go so much by how you looked or talked, but by what you did.

Yep, this is about the end of another long day. I didn’t get NEAR what I hoped too accomplished, but I DID manage to get some of the necessities taken care of today. So that is a good thing!! Maybe I can tackle some of the rest of the necessities over the weekend and have my to-do list down to nothing by the start of next week? That’s a nice thought, except for the fact that EVERYONE knows that a Mother’s work is NEVER done.
Have a good weekend, ya’ll!!

The way we travel has changed DRASTICALLY over the decades. 200 years ago, most of the time, things were carried in the back of a covered wagon or in saddle bags behind the saddle on your horse. These days, we have all kinds of luggage to pack our things in. Not only has the way we pack changed, but the mode of transportation has changed. We’ve gone from foot and horseback or wagon to cars and trucks and planes. Where we will go next? Transporters like off of “Star Trek”? Then we may not even NEED luggage…we’ll just replicate what we need when we get there.
