….First Signs That…

February 24th, 2008

Written on 2/20/2008

I saw the first signs that someone else thinks Spring is on the way this morning too!!  On my way to Iola for an appointment after I dropped Malachi at school this morning, I was going down one of the back roads to get back to the highway, and I saw that someone has up their irrigation system.  It wasn’t up last week when I went by there.  At least it’s not just ME that thinks Spring is on the way!!!

The animals are all saying that Spring is all but here.  We’ve got a couple of trees in our neighborhood that are starting to bud with new leaves.  Chief is starting to shed out his Winter coat in almost massive amounts.

Yep, Spring is on the way!!!  Somebody needs to tell my thermometer that, though.  It’s not even 30 degrees out there today, and it’s about as warm as it’s going to get at 1:30 in the afternoon.

Haven’t Seen Much…

February 22nd, 2008

Written on 2/20/2008

…of my Sister and her two girls in the last 3 weeks or so.  Between her job, their schooling and Girl Scouts and all of our running back and forth to and from appointments and such, we just haven’t been connecting much.  I imagine they will be out for a bit this coming Friday, as that is one of her days off, but I’m not sure.  We HAVE been talking on the phone at least once most days, though even the phone calls have been kind of short sometimes.  Things should start slowing down here before long, I hope, and then maybe we will be able to see them more again.

Life Insurance

February 22nd, 2008

As we get older, I think there is a time when we ALL start thinking (or SHOULD start thinking) about our life insurance situation.  Funerals are getting VERY expensive these days, and life insurance can help make sure that our family doesn’t end up paying for our funeral.  When shopping for life insurance, though, there are so many options out there that it can be VERY confusing.  You need to find someone who can explain the differences and give you term life insurance quotes and as well as quotes on other types of life insurance.  And you need to find someone who can help you choose the type and amount that’s just right for you.

Home Schooling

February 22nd, 2008

Written on 2/20/2008

I am…..sad……to report that our home schooling has been put on hold, more or less.  This is thanks in part to a Judge’s “strong, personal opinions” about public schools.  But, this WILL also work in our favor, so we will go along with it for now, and fight that battle down the road a little ways.

I am still working with my buddy here and there here at home when we get the opportunity, so he will stay up where he was before we went off-line, academically.  He is still waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy ahead of where his classmates are, except for the fact that I wasn’t teaching him to do the D’Nealian style handwriting.  But he’s picking that up pretty well!!!  He’s interacting well with the other 7 children in his class, according to his teacher.  Though it has only been a little over 3 weeks since he started public school, the teacher has yet to see any major problems, which I knew she wouldn’t.  He seems to be enjoying it, which is a GOOD thing at this point.  I’ll keep working with him here at home as we have time and feel like it, and we’ll see what happens in the next couple of months.

We’ll keep you posted…

Pens

February 22nd, 2008

Pens…they are a common item that we sometimes take for granted.  We see them everywhere…in the banks…in the grocery stores and other stores…we see them for sale, too.  You might be surprised at the options if you go to buy pens these days.  You have fancy pens, standard-not-so-fancy bic pens that you throw away when they run out of ink, refillable pens.  Yep, they have ALL sizes, shapes, and colors of pens these days!!!

Still Multi-Tasking

Yep, I’m still multi-tasking.  Made a phone call for Dad.  Had to go find a form on-line and print it off for him to sign.  Now, I’ve gotta send an e-mail about making a little bit of money.  Still running the copier, too.  Have to go take care of some tax stuff pretty soon, too.  Nothing TOO major, just alot of little things that NEED taken care of.

ALL Of The Possibilities!!!

February 22nd, 2008

With us getting to finally move out of town this last year, and getting a place that’s, more or less, out in the country, with a bigger yard, and a whole LOT less traffic in front of our house, we have been thinking about ALL of the possibilities that we have now that we didn’t have for our yard before.  More outside toys and maybe swing sets of some type for my son and his friends to play on/with….flowers for the flower beds….a Christmasy type tree that we can really decorate come Christmas time.  Yep, ALL kinds of possibilities to think about now!!!

Does Anyone….?

….even know I’m back?  I’ve had one note left since I came back on-line, and I haven’t had the opportunity to go check my counters and so forth yet.  I’m beginning to wonder if I’m typing to myself on here these days?  Oh well, this is more for me than the world, anyway.  It really doesn’t matter if anyone else reads it or not.

Multi-Tasking

February 20th, 2008

Yep, that’s what I’m doing at the moment….multi-tasking.  I’m typing this with one hand for the most part, and I have the other hand running my multi-function copier/printer.  I’ve checked and deleted some e-mail that way, checked a couple of other websites and such.  Just trying to make the most of my time, ya know.  Gotta make the most of my time at home these days, and get as much done as possible.  This is a rare day when I DO have a few hours at home to do some of the things that need done around here.  What I haven’t quite figured out how to do quite yet is:  How do I answer the phone when I already have two hands busy?….*LOL*  Oh well, I guess it’s a good thing the phone isn’t ringing TOO much this morning!!!
