Struggling To Find Ourselves

Struggling To Find Ourselves
In More Ways Than One

Time To…

November 28th, 2007

…see about getting enthused here, and getting something constructive done.  Reboot my laundry, maybe get some dishes going, clean my bathroom, and I’m not sure what else.  Figure something out for dinner, I guess, though that’s kind of difficult with not knowing if Dad will be home tonight or not yet.

Holiday Deals

November 28th, 2007

If you’re like me, I’m getting to where I do ALOT of my shopping via online shopping. It saves the hassle of going out in the cold and waiting in line during the holiday season. It also saves the stress of having to wonder how I’m going to take my son along when I’m Christmas shopping for him, and still not have him see everything I’m getting. With the holidays coming up, I have been doing some “window shopping” to see what I could find for the people on my list.

My Sister has found some stuff that we could use some Collections, Etc. coupons on.

And with my new projects on the schedule to accomplish before long, I could ALWAYS find something to use Joann coupons on!!!

We Got…

…school done for the day, and animals taken care of, since it is starting to cool off outside already.  Now I need to get some laundry restarted, get my bathroom cleaned, and figure out something for dinner.  Then I guess I need to see about working on my Sister’s Christmas project that she needs me to help her on, so I can get MY part of it all done.  I have a couple of more projects lined up already, but I’d like to finish the one that’s started already before I start anything else, especially considering the fact that I won’t have all the supplies for the next project or two until we go to the big city to do shopping.

More later….

I Wonder…

November 28th, 2007

With all the new mattresses out there, I’ve often wondered if maybe I would sleep better on one of these new fangled things than I do on my old fashioned mattress.  One of the ones that I will DEFINITELY be checking out when I get to that stage will be a tempurpedic mattress.  One thing that draws me to that one is the fact that it is NASA technology.  And that matters why, you ask?  Because the only ballpoint pen that I’ve found that I REALLY like is also NASA technology.  You have to admit, I think, not having ever seen or experienced this memory foam stuff that they build these mattresses out of, the idea DOES look like it would have it’s advantages.  To have a mattress that actually conforms to the shape of your body, even when you turn over, to help support everything that needs supported sounds like it would feel pretty good….in theory.  And with the price on these newer type mattresses coming down, one of these days, I might be able to afford one.  Of course, the free shipping from this website would help the price drastically!!!  In addition to their 90-night trial.

Why not do yourself a favor and check them out too?  It MIGHT just give you the best night’s sleep you’ve had in a long time!!!

Weather Is…

November 28th, 2007

…cloudy, and gloomy and cool again today.  It’s been cool to cold, depending upon how much wind we’ve had, since the temperature dropped several days ago.  Have had several mornings when I had to go break water for the animals, though this morning was not one of those mornings.  And we’re supposed to have the possibility of rain/snow, which equals ice around here, by this weekend.  Welcome to Wintertime, folks!!!  At least we got our propane tank filled, so we’ll be WARM!!!

I Think, Next Year, We Might…

November 28th, 2007

…see about getting some EXPENSIVE Christmas cards made!!!  They have ALL kinds out there that are REALLY cool, and I think it would be pretty cool to do that, at least one year.

If you’re looking at the possibility of doing that this year, you still have time, at least if you order from VistaPrint.  They have all kinds of different possibilities, including photo cards, which you can personalize with your text and pictures and such. And now, you can upload up to 6 pictures on at least one card design, and they will make a collage on your card. How cool would that be?

Yep, I think next year, we will try something….different!!!!

Here Again

November 28th, 2007

You all should consider yourselves lucky, in a way.  I was up most of the night, and yet I didn’t fill much of cyberspace with my needless rambling!!!…*L*

Anyway, not much going on today.  Working on schooling a bit, and laundry and dishes, and MIGHT try making some chili here afterwhile, but I’m NOT sure on that one.  Gotta clean a bit too…I missed cleaning my bathroom yesterday…..*screams in terror*….AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Anyway, more rambling later….

Bathrooms

November 28th, 2007

Have you thought about your bathroom lately?  I know some of us actually clean ours most days, if not every day.  When you clean your bathroom, do you think about getting new items for it?  Do you think about looking at bathroom vanities to try to find a new one you’d like?  Do you debate whether you’d put a bathtub in where your shower is now, or make it a combination tub AND shower?  What about the mirror?  Do you debate whether you’d want a new one that was one solid piece instead of the one that has 3 pieces like you have now?  Interesting thoughts for the middle of the night, aren’t they?

Strange Happening…

November 28th, 2007

Yep, that’s about all I can say it was…a strange happening.

My buddy and I went out to the car last week after dark to go get Dad just before the holiday, and as I was walking around the car to help him get in, I noticed my dome light was on.  Now I hadn’t been into the passenger compartment of the car since the night before.  I HAD used the dome light the night before, but I am pretty sure I turned it off.  Anyway, the REALLY strange thing was that my car didn’t even act like it had been on very long.  It started like it normally does.  Interesting, ain’t it?  All I can say is that it was God’s protection keeping my battery charged…for which I’m VERY thankful!!!

Educational Toys Review

November 28th, 2007

With a 5 year old son, I am ALWAYS on the look-out for educational toys, and one company was kind enough to send me 3 items to review for them.

The World Traveller kit was not quite what I expected.  I was expecting like a wall-sized map, when the one we got was not even the size of a good sized placemat.  It IS a GOOD map, but not quite what I was expecting/hoping for.  The rest of the kit was about the same.  I was hoping for something that could be used in numerous ways with my 5 year old, and I found it kind of limited.  We WILL put some of the things in it to use, but DEFINITELY not quite like I was hoping.

Another item that they sent us to try out was the “Race Around The Clock” Game.  It’s not a bad game, but it’s DEFINITELY got a limited “lifespan” in my opinion.  My Sister and I played it, and it got boring REALLY quick!!!  SOME of their questions were WELL beyond their suggested age to play of 8.  Others were TOO easy.  The directions did not state whether you had to land exactly on the ending spot in order for the game to be over, so the directions were kind of unclear in places to us.  It would make a GREAT game for a school teacher, or someone who has different children that are trying to learn how to add times and subtract times and such, but as a game for the whole family, I don’t think I’d go by it because of it’s limited useability.

The best item out of the package was probably the Lights and Sounds Gears building set.  I mean, this set has REAL potential for a child who has the ability and inclination to sit down and figure out how to make it all work.  There were only three MAJOR problems that we found with this set…#1:  They didn’t send enough connectors and other pieces to make a TRULY great masterpiece….#2:  The base they send is DEFINITELY not easy to get apart OR put together, and is therefore not very friendly for children to be putting together or taking apart….and #3:  The gears, by themselves, are okay, but a set like that mixed with a set of different building blocks would be GREAT!!!  My son has started incorporation the gears set in with his Legos set a little bit, and that makes BOTH sets even better with even more possibilities!!!

All in all, we are pleased with what we got…the building set made the other two worthwhile!!!  And we thank learningresources.com for the opportunity to review these items for them!!!
