Struggling To Find Ourselves

Hey all….I’m not sure if any of you have noticed yet or not, but I added a new category for links on my left-hand menu.  It’s for favorite websites that I’ve found and would like to share.  I will be adding to that list every once in a while, so keep checking back.  You never know what I might find to put up on that list!!!

In this day and age, it seems ALMOST impossible to get by without credit cards and Loans of some sort.  Finance this, finance that, finance some more…and where does that put you?  For some people, it puts them in a mess, financially.  For others, who have mastered the art of making money work FOR them, instead of against them….well, what can I say, except that those people are TRULY blessed!!  If you are among those people that think they can handle a Personal Loan, or if you need a Car Loan, maybe you should check out your on-line options.  The world of the internet has opened up a whole new world where banking and even loans come in!!

Yep, we had a brief reprieve from the Fall-like weather that I was talking about a few days ago.  It was back up into the high 80’s/low 90’s…but that all changed DRASTICALLY today!!!  This morning was cold and rainy, and the rain and the breeze made it even cooler!!  At ONE point this afternoon, my outside thermometer said it was about 60 degrees.  And no, we are NOT feeling the cold from outside here in the house!!!  It’s actually pleasant here in the house!!

I’ve always had a fascination for old items…or items that SEEM old.  I LOVE hardwood floors in old houses!!!  I LOVE the smell of horse!!  I ABSOLUTELY love big, old fireplaces with great big mantels above them!!!  I always thought I’d probably end up with one in the house that I finally settled down in.  So far, that hasn’t happened, but I still find myself, every once in a while, looking at websites that have things that would look GREAT on a mantel….like picture frames and knick-knacks and mantel clocks.

I was looking at this website today, and found this GORGEOUS mantel clock that I would LOVE, if I had a mantel to sit it on.  It’s a Howard Miller Mantel Clock, and I just LOVE the style on it, at least on the website!!  It has an OLD feel too it, kind of.

This website is a member of the Better Business Bureau, so that kind of puts some of the anxiety and doubts about buying on-line at ease, at least for me.

They offer 1 year financing at 0% interest for purchases over $500!!!

AND they have their own blog!!!  I LOVED the entry they did about finding an Interior Decorator near you!!!  Maybe that’s what I need to do, when we go to remodel!!

That when a meat-eating dinosaur broke a tooth, a new one would grow back?  And it didn’t matter HOW many times a tooth broke, a new one would grow back in it’s place.  That would be something that would come in handy, don’t you think?

In today’s world with all it’s computers and electronical devices, math is a NECESSITY!!  Alot of people think that a calculator can do it all, but unfortuneately, ALOT of children coming out of school into the real world are finding out that the calculators CAN’T do it all.  If you have a child like I do, I would suggest that you check out Math Tutors if you’re child is having problems in math.  They have an innovative program that they tailor to YOUR child’s strengths and weaknesses.  I encourage you to check them out, for your CHILD’S sake!!  Your child WILL thank you when they get out into the REAL world and realize that calculators aren’t all they are cracked up to be.

I am DIFINITELY thinking Fall is here!!!  Today started out rainy and cold, and didn’t get any better.  There was a cool breeze blowing most of the day, but it SURE wasn’t helping warm things up, even if it WAS coming out of the South!!!  Today was DEFINITELY jacket weather!!!  We even lit 2 out of three of our heaters. It’s not bad here in the house….but it’s DEFINITELY beginning to get cool!!!  GOOD thing we’ve got our heavy blankets accessible!!!

Yep, the days are DEFINITELY getting shorter!!!  It’s now not quite 7:30P.M., and it’s working REAL hard on getting dark already.  Not too many weeks ago, it wasn’t dark until about 9P.M.  The earlier darkness is a GOOD thing, in some ways, though!!  Some of the trees are starting to lose some of their leaves already.  Signs of Fall are ALL around us….I guess it’s about time to start thinking of Art projects for us to do during school to kind of decorate a little bit for Fall, huh?  I got a START on that today, I think….Wal-Mart had some little foam stickers that SHOULD make a GREAT item to make pictures with on construction paper!!  I got a little box of 400-and-some, I think, for a couple of bucks.  I’ll have to try to come up with some other ideas of ways to use them too, though!!!

Black Friday….it’s a term that is anxiously awaited by some ALL year long….for others, like me, it is a term that means we STAY HOME!!!

Black Friday is the shopping day after Thanksgiving.  And it can mean ALOT of things…getting up early to be there when the stores open….never knowing what is on sale until the day before when you get your Thanksgiving Day newspaper….going to certain stores, looking for certain items, and finding that they are all sold out already.

If you are one of those that would LOVE to take advantage of Black Friday specials, but don’t like to get up early, or don’t like not knowing what’s on sale until the day before, or even if you just don’t like the hustle and bustle of that shopping day, I MAY have the answer for you!!  If you check out the black friday website, you will be able to sign up for e-mail notifications when the merchants post new Black Friday ads.  You will be able to see what is scheduled for that ad, before anyone else.  You will also be able to order that item ON-LINE, from what the website says, so there’s no need to deal with standing in line for hours to get out of the store!!!  AND they have over 50 different merchants to choose from…everything from AAFES to Overstock.com Specials to Wal-Mart and Toys’R'Us!!!
