Struggling To Find Ourselves

Struggling To Find Ourselves
In More Ways Than One

Evenings

September 30th, 2007

Evenings at my house, especially with the cooler weather are somewhat….serene, in ways.  ALOT different than what we had at our other house!!

I went outside a bit ago to lock up the ducks and our one goose, and the coyotes were howling in the not-TOO-distant distance….like right across the road maybe….the stars were shining brightly…the cool breeze was DEFINITELY feeling cool!!…There was the faint smell of the rain we had earlier this evening still in the air….the crickets were singing.  The evenings around here are SOOOO much different than they were in town at our other house….no constant traffic noise…no neighbors having arguments with their spouses/live-ins/whatever you want to call them….just peace and quiet, normally, by the time darkness falls.  Enough peace and quiet that you can actually hear the sounds of nature!!  Have to admit that this move was a GOOD one for us!!!  We LOVE living out here!!!

The Versatility Of Metal Cabinets

September 30th, 2007

The versatility of metal storage cabinets is AMAZING, if you really want to get down to it.  I was looking at some metal cabinets today and was trying to decide if I liked the metal storage locker or the 2 shelf wall unit better.  Frankly, I think it would be hard to decide…and honestly, I could think of uses for BOTH of them, and even MORE if we had a garage that we were trying to get organized.

Did Ya Notice….?

September 30th, 2007

…the additions to my left-hand menu today?  I added another website to the list of ones that I visit.  If you need flea and tick stuff for your cat or dog, or anything like that, I DEFINITELY recommend www.mypetprescriptions.com!!  i’ve had GREAT service from them!!!

With the help of my Sister, I also figured out how to add banners and such to my left-hand menu!!!  How COOL is that?

The Sahara

September 30th, 2007

In a far away land, there lived a rogue. Some thought he deserved to be banished from the land. Other’s thought that he deserved to be exiled to the Sahara hotel. Most thought that the Sahara Hotel was in the middle of the Sahara Desert, but little did they know that the Sahara Hotel was an oasis…a paradise, it was said, in the middle of nowhere.

Windy

September 30th, 2007

Yep, that kind of sums up the last couple of days….windy.  And today is windier than yesterday was.  I’m not sure if this is good or bad, though.  The temperature isn’t too bad right now, but this wind COULD and might bring in some cooler temperatures.  Oh well….*shrugs*….it IS almost October, so I guess we can’t complain TOO much!!

Winter Vacation Plans?

September 28th, 2007

With Fall here, and Winter coming, different people invision different things.  If you live where it snows alot, you might be thinking about a Winter vacation to Arizona or Hawaii.  If you live in Hawaii, though, you might be thinking about a vacation in Alaska or Vermont.

Vacation Rentals have become VERY popular and are a GREAT way to get away from it all.  You can go just about anywhere you want too, and get a deluxe suite, or a log cabin, whatever your preference.  So, whether you are in to warm Winter get-aways, or a skiing vacation full of adventure and daredevilry, I’m SURE you can find what you’re looking for in vacation rentals!!!

Fall-Like Days

September 28th, 2007

Not much happening here, in some ways.  Life as usual….doing school….taking care of the house and animals and spending time with my boy.  We have been having a BLAST with schooling!!

This morning was cool enough for me to get up at about 4A.M. and close the windows.  But it’s warming up to a nice 70 degrees outside now!!  PERFECT Fall-like days!!!  We have REALLY enjoyed getting out without it being overly hot, and able to stay MOST of the day, if that’s what we wanted to do!!

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

September 28th, 2007

Or at least, that’s what they say.  Sometimes, I think a picture is worth MORE than a thousand words!!

Cameras are a WONDERFUL thing!!  I LOVE my old camera that takes film because I LOVE the hard copies that I get, and the ease of just sending the negative in to get reprints, but I HAVE to say that digital cameras are WONDERFUL too!!!  I like the ease of being able to take pictures without running out of film!!!  I like the fact that most, if not all of them, let you choose whether to put a date stamp on the pictures.  You can hook your camera up to the computer, transfer the pictures to your hard disk, and e-mail them to friends and family VERY easily!!  And SOME of the digital cameras are ACTUALLY taking DECENT pictures, these days!!!

We use our cameras for ALOT of different purposes…pictures to show how my son has changed….pictures documenting the milestones in his life, like walking and riding a bike with no training wheels….pictures for scrapbooking….

The bottom line is:  We LOVE our cameras and wish we could use them even more!!!

Almost The End…

September 28th, 2007

…Of month #1, and my buddy is doing GREAT!!!  It’s been 3 weeks (or so) since he has missed ANY on his work, which means he’s been getting 100%’s on ALL of his pages!!!  AND, in Letters and Sounds (which is basically a phonics workbook), he has gotten to where he is reading MOST of the words in his work section ALL BY HIMSELF!!!  He has gotten REALLY good at sounding a word out and recognizing that it’s a word!!

We’ve been doing art projects, here and there too!!  And decorating my window for the Fall/Halloween season!!!  Nothing fancy, but it makes him use his head and figure out what he wants to use and how he wants to use it.  On one of them, we used foamy-type stickers on sheets of construction paper to make “posters”.  On one poster, he made a tree out of the words “Trick Or Treat” and Pumpkins for the leaves.  On the other one, he punched out the top of little candy sack stickers and used them for mouths, and we made faces on ALL the pumpkins.  I thought it was pretty cool, the way he used them.

European Ski Holidays

September 27th, 2007

The thought of luxury skiing and holiday in Europe right now sounds REALLY inviting!!!  St. Anton, Austria….Meribel, France…..Courchevel, France…those place names bring images of snow and magnificent mountains….luxery ski chalets to warm up in.  Some ski chalets have a jacuzzi or a hot tub in them, as well as a home theater system that would put some theaters to shame!!

They have luxury ski chalets in Courchevel, which is part of 3 valleys, which SHOULD provide for some GREAT skiing, in my mind!!!

So, if you’re in the market for a European vacation, why not check out a luxury holiday?  It MIGHT just be the BEST holiday you’ve had in a LONG time!!!
