Struggling To Find Ourselves

A Winter approaches, and we are trying to get things taken care of so that we are ready, we have been shopping here and there for the best price on several items.  We have been doing some actual go-to-the-store-and-window-shop, but we have also been using one of the most valuable resources in our society today…the internet….to shop on-line stores and also an online auction house or two.  Can’t say we are done “window shopping” for those items, either, but we are getting close!!

There are been a couple of mornings the last week or so when there has been a definite coolness in the air….a reminder that Fall is JUST around the corner, as well as Winter.  Needless to say, we have been working at getting things set up for Winter, including buying Winter clothing and such.  We still need to get a pair or two of  snow boots, and maybe a Winter coat for me, but other than that, we are pretty well set for Winter clothing.

Preparing for Winter can be a FULL time job sometimes when you live in the country and have animals and such.

We may have ALOT of things out here at this property that God has blessed us with, but I honestly CAN’T ever see us needing swimming pool supplies of any size, shape, color or description.  A swimming pool would be nice when it’s the middle of Summer, and humid and just plain miserable, but they are more trouble than what they are worth around here, in my opinion.  With the Kansas wind, and stuff in the water that makes it grow green stuff…oh, and did I mention the wind…I just don’t think it’s worth the hassle of having our own pool.  Not when we have a couple of lakes, a couple of rivers, and 3 or 4 public swimming pools within a 50 miles radius of our house.

With August upon us tomorrow, and school starting again in a couple of weeks, I have made the realization that the holidays are right around the corner…again.  With that realization, we have to look into getting holiday cards and any gifts on the budget, gotten and sent in the next 3 or 4 months, which, in one way, sounds like we have plenty of time, but in another way, isn’t really all that long.  I guess I need to start pulling the holiday plans for meals and get-together’s together, also, as I figure that we will be “entertaining” at least a couple of times during this coming holiday season.

It seems like my house has computer parts laying all over the place!  We have everything from keyboards to an external hard drive to printers to scanners and everything in between.  I haven’t quite figured out what to do with the ones that we aren’t sure if they work or not.  Selling them on Ebay hasn’t worked to well, so far, but I heard that one of the major electronics stores in the big city does “trade-ins” and recycles the old electronics.  It MIGHT just be worth taking some of them with me the next time I go to the big city and doing that…even if we don’t get much trade-in value off of them.

Well, we aren’t getting QUITE as many of our plans done this Summer as we had hoped, but we are still getting the major ones done.

I’m not sure about outdoor fireplaces, but we are planning to put something similiar in our basement, probably next Summer to help heat the house and water for showers and such.  It is kind of an elaborate system that we have planned, but it should make a HUGE difference in our heating bills in the Winter!  As well as how warm the house stays!

Another insurance that they recommend you have, but don’t tell you how to pay for on a tight budget is life insurance.  Some claim they are a cheap term life insurance company, but then they charge you alot of “hidden” fees for this and that and something else.  I’m not sure about you, but I’d like to avoid alot of the “hidden” fees associated with ANYTHING, if possible.

It seems like health insurance, or lack thereof, is a MAJOR challenge these days if you are looking to go to the doctor.  My question is:  How do you pay for it when you are working a minimum wage job, or are self employed?  Maybe Blue Cross NC is the answer for some of us!  Only research for your personal situation will answer that question.

If I felt a little more enthused, I would actually go to the trouble of looking up the word “phentermine” and do a good entry on it.  But, I am feeling a bit less than that enthused tonight, and have several of these entries that I need to do, so I guess it will just have to wait for another time.

LOTS of changes going on at house at the moment….some long-term changes that will be taking shape over the next several months….changes for the better, I think, in some ways….changes that will add some challenges, too.  More details as they come….

In this day and age, I find myself noticing that things are “The Best!”.  Who is to say what is “The Best”?  It seems like everything has that claim these days, from the best weight loss products to the best new car to buy.  There are so many choices out there that it’s kind of frustrating to me when someone is trying to sell me “The Best” of something, but it’s not quite right for me in my opinion.
